RE: BA B747 ‘City of Oxford’

Tragic news, sorry to hear it.

It would be incredibly interesting to see some of these press cuttings though. Any chance of seeing some scan-ins?

    RE: Aircraft Museums

Not a museum as such, but the Heathrow Airport Visitor’s Centre is great and I used to take a trip up there quite frequently. It’s just outside the airport bu you can see right across the airport and see takeoffs, landings, taxiing aircraft and more. It’s free to get in to and there is everything. A scale model of Terminal 5 (T5), a large photograph display with photographs from key dates in history e.g. the day it opened, when Concorde first flew, the Queen visiting etc. There’s a reasonably priced cafeteria with seats looking onto the airport as well.

Last time I was there, there was a flight simulator arcade style game. It was £1 a go and you had to pass through several stages; Takeoff, Cruise and Landing.

Find out how customs works and see what sort of things people have tried to smuggle through and how they’ve tried to get it through without people noticing. Quite bizarre!

There’s lots to do and even a job centre specialising in airport jobs, so it’s quite handy and well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I’m not too good with directions, but it’s a couple of blocks along from the “Renaissance” Hotel, just in front of the 24hr McDonalds!

    🙂 Sorry to go on!

A great report. I love it when they’re really long and go into such great detail! Submit it to http://www.carsurvey.org/air/ and more people will benefit from it!

    Great Story!

Perhaps the travel agent done it deliberately. They knew any sane person would assume “Sydney” to be Australia when it fact it was Canada!

I myself think it sounds a good idea but who would determine which airline we were to focus on?

    RE: Cool ones

    a) 2100
    b) Marie

A – It’s confusing me but you start with negative 1000.
B – “Marie’s Father” indicates she is one of the daughters – so when you think A, E, I and O, you assume it’s U.

RE: BA cancels 11 September flights

I know life after September 11th has to go on but perhaps for the one year anniversary, airlines could do this as a mark of respect – have limited flights running on this day to remember those killed.
