Coincidence?? A woman passed me this morning pulling her little suitcase on wheels and it had a Finnair luggage label on it!

Don’t worry, the crazy cow will be up next week…

The A330 os Airtours has 5 downstairs toilets below row32 I believe. I travelled AIH in March/April and was in about row 37 and did not visit the toilet once in the 10 hour crossing. I’ve got a safety card with a plan of the arrangement somewhere, I’l dig it out and scan it in.

Airtours actually brag about being the first airline to use below-deck toilet facilities.

It’s a shame because islands such as those belonging to Greece are made mostly for tourists and people don’t necessarily come half way around the world to visit them so you are restricted to the slightly smaller aircraft and dont get to see the finer B747s, B777s and A340s. That’s my opinion. Anyway, have fun… get some good shots for us to enjoy with such a beautiful backdrop!

    RE: What about the destination

I totally agree with what’s being said. They are so many bad points to carrying fire-arms on board commercial aircraft.

If these were not used, it may however make passengers feel slightly more secure and deter would-be hijackers.

On September 11th, weren’t there at least 4 hijackers on each aircraft? If so, how is a single gun and a pilot going to stand any chance again against a gang of people who may have explosives strapped to them?!?

And the little apple by the nose where the aircraft is named “New York” is rather cool!

    RE: Subscription Perks?

I rung them today and asked what all this was about. It’s rather deceiving the way the order form on page 48 works.

£33.00 for a one year UK subscription + plus two free issues. Surely, to most people it could be misinterpreted. You pay £33.00 for 12 issues (12 copies, one each month) and get the 13th and 14th free? No, it doesn’t work like that.

This simply means you pay for 10 and the 11th and 12th are free. It does not mention this and if you’re new to the magazine, you won’t be aware of the £5 or so saving on a year’s subscription and may assume you are getting 14 issues.

I was given a choice and could have an extra 2 issues on top of the 12 I have already paid for or I could get the binder – I went for the binder but still find the order form on page 48 of the August issue incredibly misleading.

    Saab,

I was going to say that exact same thing! Unless it’s been leased to some American airline?? But then it would have a temporary livery.

    RE: Euro nations

I live in England too and can only hope we never switch to the €uro. What concerns me about it is the fact that the change from the old currency to the new is not proportional in various areas – for example, someone’s hourly wage or salary may not be proportional to the cost of a loaf of bread during the switch. How do we know people aren’t/haven’t losing/lost money during the changeover??

My mum and sister will be at Larnaca tomorrow – they’re flying to Gatwick with Excel Airways and depart at about 23:00hrs.

Great collation of events Kabir, thanks. Do you think Tupolev, Antonov, Yakolev etc are more unreliable than aircraft made by Boeing or Airbus or do you think it’s just coincidence that these aircraft are more frequently involved in accidents?

RE: Drunk America West pilots sacked.

Shocking stuff! I actually watched a documentary a couple of years back which focused on a few pilots of BA who were breaking rules and drinking just a few hours before flying a plane. I can’t remember the outcome of it.

    It’s a disgrace.
