I would love to hear from anyone with information about drawings…any rumours/information or drawings themselves. I have been trying to trace the drawings for years and have hit nothing but brick walls. The manuals still exist at Hendon and they did have the drawings until the early 90’s. Unfortunately they were requested back by a certain manufacturer that no longer allows copies of them to be made….or even anyone like me to see them!!! Any help appreciated….
Its the same story I heard, so a flyer will be very dificult if not impossible.
There was an surve on the tailfin a few years back. Just to see if it was feasable to restore it. A report was made, but as far as I know nothing was done with it. The idea was to do the same with fuselage. No corners to be cut. The people involved said it could be done. To restore as much as possible and make new items that where missing.
The tail fin is in a museum in the Netherlands. As far as I know the museum has not heard anything for sometime as well.
Can you tell me where the firewalls have gone to that where with one of the previues owner of the XVII.
You are wright, did take the photo a few years back. The photo was taken in one of the sheds of the Midland air museum. At that time I was in contact with the owner of the project. The idea was to make a complete fuselage. We do have the tailfin at our local airmuseum. But no information for some years now. So am wondering what the current states is.
Here is a shot while in the hangeer with OFMC.
One of the higest scoring RAF pilot is the almost forgotten ‘Bob’ Braham. He did score most of his kills as a night fighter pilot, flying Blenheims, Baufighters and Mossie’s. He was the most decorated pilot of the RAF during WWII.
