According to that 2007 pdf file dealing with MDPU, 18 slots and in 2007 Thales was thinking about quad core processors. No clue on what is in the box now.
I’m off topic, i stop about rafale

Not really comparable? Lets be serious for a moment. Not only are counties comparing the Rafale and the F-16, they usually pick the F-16.

…and don’t go thinking that it is some kind of a budget vs capability kind of trade-off. Something like an F-16 block 60 is hardly a buget aircraft and the UAE is hardly a budget buyer.

The UAE picked the F-16 over the Rafale for some pretty simple reasons, it was more capable. It had a better radar, a better EW system, and a far better selection of armaments.

In Morocco the F-16 was cheaper, but again that doesn’t mean it required compromises in capability. Sometimes cheaper just means a better deal.

Much of the reason the F-16 has been able to offer so much more capability for less is because of the scale of the program. The Rafale is currently being produced at a rate of 11 aircraft a year… that means 11 radars, ~22ish engines, etc. It drives up the price of everything. (One of the big reasons the Rafale win in India was so suspicious to the EF program… )

Better EW system… Thanks for the laughter, you made my day

exagerating, i could say that anyone can own a nuke, need or not.
More seriously, i’ll take an example i know : my country (France). One can own a weapon after spending long time in a shooter’s association and brief psy exam.
That will not allow him to hold it.
Is it better or worse? i dont know, i just intended to give you something to chew.
PS. Perso i’m resevist in a military daily involved unit, but i dont fel the need of a gun (mind my dog wiehs 100 pounds)

Still, i’m very interested in seeing americans discussing this subject.

    Have a nice foruming time!

The last I heard about Paveway IV drops from a Typhoon was a very short while ago. Apparantly, BAE Systems conducted end-to-end drops in December of ’12. Thats the last time I’ve heard of anything regarding this but I supsect we’ll learn more soon.

That’s the one i was referring to.

    Errmmm…
Sheer power of processing units is great. Tbh i dont know the capacity of my beloved rafale (except that MDPU is made of clustured 16 RISC architecture chips afaik).
Emphasize should be made on bus instead tbh, and furthermore on algorithms (and we have def no infos about math processing of datas)

    Universal American Industry?
    joking of course.
But afaik there is one and only one standard : NATO stanag.
Wondering fo the reasons aof a UAI? As i’m complete noob about that, is it mil std? Or another attempt to capt markets?
These are sincere questions, not just trolling…

Possibly. Theres a lot of European alternatives if US weapons get blocked.

Paveway IV is a great weapon though, allows the Typhoon pilot to program the weapon from the cockpit/in-flight, select a desired approach and angle of impact etc. A family member swore by it when he was FAC/Observation duties.

    @Halloweene,

I see. The forum had a bit of a rough time a few weeks/months ago when it got bombarded with a shed load of spammers signing up every day, sometimes posting two or three pages worth of random topics a day. I had to think a little there when you said you can’t find the register button, this spamming nonesense we got just helped the penny drop.

Jwcook is an administrator on Starstreak and is also a member on this forum. Send him a PM, I’m sure he can help you out somehow. 🙂

I do believe paveway IV is a great weapon. Did you read about AASM devs incoming on rafale thread?
Personally i have good reasons to love precise bombs (aswell as your cousin i guess). FACs are a great family (bend head and expect pilot isnt dumb).
I’ll send to Jcook, but do you expect another rafale fanboy?

Btw, i’ve seen lots of stuff about paveway IV shooting from EFT, do you have a rererence please?

it stealth , very simple , using rafale or EF-2000 to fight the F-35 is like using an AK-47 to fight a guy using Barrett M82 , at close range the ak-47 is better , but at long range the snipe have advantage
moreover F-35 carry much more fuel compared to rafale ( double i think ) to reach to same distance as F-35 with internal fuel , rafale need 3 bag which mess up not only RCS but also kinematic performance, and even the advantage in kinematic will not mean much against modern missiles like Meteor or aim-132

    Revise facts.

Indeed. The RSAF wanted Paveway IV for Typhoon but was blocked by the US, this made them issue an UOR to integrate AASM Hammer instead. This is still ongoing and I’m not sure how far this decision has come along, but I’d be sure its rather close. From what I can gather Saudi Arabia will recieve a lot (elements such as P1E) before other Typhoon users including the RAF.

Are you having issues with registering with Starstreak?

yes. was registered, changed computer, lost password, talked to G777, he talked to admin, they received no confirmation mail, i didnt either etc. Complicated stuff, got lost in translation. Now i’m only looking for where is the “register” button (i know i’m french aka dumb 🙂 )in order to start new account.
    i’ll try to behave!
