This one is easy … MIG-31

Actually that was a PESA (though it was pretty revolutionary for its time). The Mitsubishi F-2 was the first operational aircraft with an AESA.

You need no computer power for a relaxed stability!
Mirage 2000 and F-16 used simpel analog technology.

Quiz question which serial jet used a digital FCS first?

    Panavia Tornado.

Now you might think Dassualt, Saab and Eurofighter prefer deltas with Canards. but the answer is not exactly, what happens is redesign a new aircraft takes a lot of money and time so they have developed them to milk the design the most.

Utter nonsense. European manufacturers had plenty of experience with conventional tail/wing layouts on high speed combat aircraft with the Jaguar, Mirage F1, Tornado, Entendard, and plenty of other aircraft. The Eurocanards were new design aircraft. They were not developed from previous aircraft. A delta-canard design was chosen for the Eurofighter as it was optimized for “shoot-and-scoot” BVR combat where supersonic turning is important.

Kirtap , thank you very much . Where did you get that ?

    Figure 4.5 :
Bragg Cell receivers provide instantaneous , full band frequency measurement and handle multiple , simultaneous signals

It is exactly what I said , add to that multichannel Bragg Cell and we get a clearer picture .

    Cheers .

Before you miss this good news:

    from http://www.defense-aerospace.com

It is indeed good news. Anyone know what type of thrust this provides?

Are there any details how such a stealth rafale demonstrator would look like? Something like the F-15 Silent Eagle perhaps?

Probably like a normal Rafale. They are going the active stealth route.

It is important to distinguish between EODAS and EOTS here. The former is a more advanced variant of a conventional IR MAWS based on multiple sensor apertures, with additional functionality, while the latter is a combined IRST/FLIR/LD. Crucially, the single EOTS system has a substantially smaller field of view whereas EODAS cannot offer BVR range.

This answers a question I had earlier. Thanks.

Does this count as true IRST? Aren’t these just “staring arrays” that lack ability to zoom, as opposed to the presumably gimbaled, zooming device inside the faceted structure on the front, underside of the a/c? Wouldn’t this be considered a system more like an infrared MAWS?

Merci beaucoup pour cette information tres interessant.

I believe the “calcul des elements finis” refers to the Finite Element Method in English, which of course is used very broadly in engineering for finding numerical solutions to systems of PDE’s (Maxwell’s equations for example) on arbitrary domains.

Any more info (if you have any) on these special Bragg Cells and their EW applications would be much appreciated.

    Jobim today:
    – He made a choice and will recommend only one option to Lula.
    – The price was not the most important criterion.
    – Lula should make an announcement at the end of next week.

    Crystal clear …;)

    From the article:

What are weighing the interests of the country. In other words, Brazil does not need to buy anything at a bargain price. We do not want banana, we want something that gives consistency to Brazil.

Well clearly, they do not want banana. :/

I wish MiGs LFi looked like this…. with a little modification to the wings, leading edge, tail fin & placement of the intakes.

It’s a neat concept, but the circular section would be bad for stealth.

Hi, guys! I just thought that as long as we’re waiting for pics,

Looks exactly like a Rafale- is this supposed to be a JXX model?

It better supercruise at Mach 2+ and have an RCS comparable to the Bird of Prey or I’m going to be sorely disappointed if this is the best they can manage by 2030-2040.
