I find that determination amazing. I hope for them all they get what they deserve – many safe years of display flying for this aircraft.

Are many of the restoration team on the Blenheim those who took part in the first two restorations to flight. If so it makes it even more remarkable. One set back of that magnitude must be heart breaking but to have a second and knuckle down and start once again really is extraordinarily dogged and determined.

Yes they have said where they want it to go – Finningley

So they have. Helps if I pay more attention!

Why do people get so wound up about it? Shock horror. Lazy journalism. Obvious lazy journalism but by no means as bad as the many other transgressions of British newspapers over the years.

It amazes me that someone would bother starting a thread and clogging up the forum about such a thing. And then there’s me bothering to reply!

Seriously. Let’s just have one thread for the ultra smart amongst us who are able to spot mistakes in the mail, express etc.

    I’m happy to start it.

I imagine it is far too much to ask that XH558 is painted anti-flash White for her last run of appearances.

Probably bigger priorities financially when they have a new home to find. Unless a big sponsor comes along who is desperate to see it in that livery.

I think the notion of Scampton being a possible final destination for the Vulcan might not be too fanciful if the major heritage centre idea ever comes off the ground. Things have gone quiet on this score but if it did come off it would be a great location. But so many ifs. Have Elvington ever said they actually want it? Have the Vulcan team ever said (past the early early Duxford statement) where there want it to go? To my knowledge, no.

Sad news if the case and hard to picture as it is such a substantial memorial.

Some nice images and agree with you about not overdoing HDR. Thanks for sharing the images, great stuff!

What’s wrong with ‘arty farty’ anyway. Interesting angles and compositions add a new perspective on a familiar theme and your images do just that.

A funny thing to be immortalised in a painting called ‘ace of aces’ when shooting down scores of allied aircraft in the name of the nazi state (whether he agreed with it personally or not).

I’m not necessarily condemning him as that’s a step too far without a much greater knowledge and understanding of this particular story than I have but there is something that makes me uneasy in seeing romantic sunset paintings like this when we know that they were supporting a state so repugnant and dangerous as that of Nazi Germany.

Not something I would have on my wall!

Added a yes to the tally. One ‘no’ there just to spoil a clean sheet.

Will this be a travelling exhibit on completion or has a museum been earmarked? Early days I know but a great project that I’m sure a lot of us wish to succeed.

I would guess that the reason behind the gentlemen in the picture wearing hard hats would be down to the simple fact that they had just towed the B24 out of a controlled building site where hard hats are mandatory and couldn’t be bothered carrying them all the way to the other end of the airfield so left them on their heads.

Yes but such sound logic would spoil an opportunity for an ‘in my day’, ‘health and safety madness’ type rant. 🙂
