G-AHOO seen at last weekends Moth rally at Halton.
What you do have is the opportunity to create a superb little Museum focussing on Weston Zoyland and the units operating from there. Maybe something along the lines of the 100th BG Museum at Thorpe Abbotts. By focussing on the activities of those who served there a really useful and interesting Museum could be created. It wouldn’t take up too much room and it would be manageable. I think that being able to manage this as a sustainable project is one of the things you need to seriously consider. I think you need to learn to walk before you start trying to run.
kev35
Bingo! Absolutely spot on Kev35.
A terrific day Today (Sunday) as well, a nice bonus freeby flight in my hosts Hornet Moth G-ADNE:)
I will be there as a guest of one of the participants, on Sunday. Looking forward to it!
We have saved the last one from Stansteds Birchhanger site, It is still in situ at the moment, as it contains the electrical switchgear for the old industrial estate. Once EDF have cleared it, we will take it down, and rebuild it elsewhere😉
I have mentioned before in another thread you started 668, You will need planning permission!
Brilliant:)
Thank you all.

i think some time in the near future wil have to get the locals involved but i think they come more into the friends side of it.
Its the people on this forum (and others) that are the ones into aviation and activly promote it,
I beg to differ in your case. I think the local people are probably more important than you believe them to be. I will give you an example, when the idea had been sown for us in the HAMG (six local people) to raise funds, obtain planning permission and to raise awareness of the ultimate building of a permanent memorial on Hunsdon airfield, it was the local community who shone through.
Like Hunsdon, Weston Zoyland has its enthusiasts. These are the people who are interested in the airfield, and care enough to see a small part of it in preservation of some sorts. By establishing a small museum, you are highlighting the airfields history. Who better to get involved, than the local historians?. I asked before in this thread if you had thought of contacting the local press and its historical society. Have you done this yet?
Inform the local radio of your intentions, and the local papers historical jounalist. Run a feature on WZ. Funding could come through local business if they are aware of it. Approach the local RAFA association, they are always keen to help and promote. You could take out a small advert in ‘Airmail’, their quarterly magazine, and try to approach former WZ servicemen and women. they are good for stories and research from the horses mouth so to speak.
Hold a fundraising night, they are fun, and easy to arrange. A village hall, a good speaker on a certain subject, a little catering like Tea, a glass of wine and nibbles, even a memorabilia display. Charge a certain amount per head to cover costs and make a profit… that goes into your trusty ‘Weston Zoyland’ bank account or ‘WZ trustees account’..you have got one of these up and running already eh?
While many on this forum do promote and are active in aviation, many, if not all, are actively tied up in their own projects, understandably so. Many people on here may well have little or no interest in Weston Zoyland. As for myself, while applauding your keen spirit, I can do very little to help.
You need people local, you need local people. This is your rock community on whom to rely on.
I wish you luck, if you are deadly serious, then your project will come to fruition.
If the aircraft you flew in was G-ACDJ that is correct.
I’m afraid it was Mike:(
I have it on good authority that the B-25 was at the Madingley Memorial this morning.
Well spotted Peter, I can imagine what a sight that was!
I take it this is the NATO aircraft museum at Grainthorpe near Louth?.
The Lightnings being XR770 and XS416.
I had a delightful 30 minutes of ‘hands on’ Tiger Moth flying at Sywell. It was with Delta Aviation, who may, or may not, still be operating. Unfortunately the Moth I flew is no longer with us apparently:(
