Some more progress

The engine control duct is now finished and everything is riveted together (and fits!:) ). In the first pic it’s fitted tot the pilot chassis which will be the pilot’s floor where all the controls etc. are fitted. This is the heart of the Halifax cockpit. With the instrument panel in the general area it’s beginning to look like something familiar.

Im entering the world of Cockpits and flight sims for the first time.

Ive just recently taken over an ATC project of a F16 cockpit flight sim, plenty of work still to do including skinning the cockpit and creating the instrument panel.

If I started on something smaller say an instrument panel is there a type you would recommend as a first project (from little acorns) etc.

Can’t really answer that one, as your limited by the availability. Canberra shouldn’t present to much of a problem gauge wise, but you may wish to peruse this thread for ideas……..

£25-£30 each is usually the norm for Harrier panels, and some instruments are Harrier specific and very rare. And acquiring a Harrier cockpit to put it all in is nigh impossible unless you spend several £K on an ex-navy Sea Harrier which will be stripped out anyway.

Here are a couple more pics, the last one is the stand by sight presumably used if the HUD went U/S

Nashio966 – yes that is the one, I managed to track down the pilot flying it at the time (with help from people on this forum) who sent me some photos of the damage, the wing was pretty mangled.
XM692 – the only reason I can think that it wasn’t spares recovered too much is that it was in storage for a while and then used as an instructional airframe, by then most of the other jags would have been upgraded to 1a or 3 standard. It was purchased from Everett Aero who have been very helpful to me.

Paul she looks great! I am amazed at just how much is still fitted inside. Everrett aero has jag parts for sale and theres a chap on ebay that has new windscreen glass as well Jet air design I think it is.

this wasn’t the aircraft that lost a significant portion of one of its wings as a result of said collision?? (i forget which one) i think its been discussed on here before

Jaguar GR1 XX977

Here are some pics of my Jaguar cockpit, it only arrived last week so I am still exploring it and finding lots of goodies. Brief history is that it came on strength of 31 Squadron RAFG from new and served with them until a collision involving a telecommunications tower in 1984, deemed too costly to repair it was stored for a while then used for battle damage repair training before being sold. I like it because it still has all of the RAFG markings and is fairly complete.

If anyone knows of a source of Jaguar spares or possible leads to some then I would like to hear from you, the first thing I am after is a couple of the rubber straps that assist the canopy opening – with them just going out of service there should be a supply of new stock around somewhere.
