Thank you James – you see my point perfectly. That Focke Wulf took up 6 years of my life.
Bruce
And Mr Staz…..
im sure he had something to do with it as well…….
Sorry but you are wrong. They were specifically manufactured by the film company and sit in the area where the original cannon were fitted. We have original B of B film barrels fitted to G-AWHE and used them as the design shape to copy for the ones fitted to G-BWUE. Connie Edwards told me this week when he visited Duxford, that he has dozens of barrels in his hangar at Big Spring. π
CLANG !!
Hang on Roobs i’ll give you a hand to pick up that name you just dropped….;)
Is this the Fury that used to fly from Yeovilton with ‘D Day’ style stripes on the wings that I remember watching on many a school day when I should have been fielding in the 80s or I remember somewhere hearing it had been written off, sorry for the slight thread drift?
No.
That would be TF956 an FB.11.
Looking at Mark12βs lovely picture of the two-seat Spit line-up at Duxford last weekend, I was noticing how different the shades of roundel red appear between aircraft, particularly ML407. This got me wondering, which is closest to the original shade? β407βs roundels just look βrightβ somehow, as does the rest of the paintjob. Her recent repaint back to 1980βs colours has worked a treat!
I’d thank the guy who supplied 407s painters the correct colour specs.

Just give me a week or two and I will show you one!
A week or two?
How long is this refurb going to take?:)
Or if all else fails, make up your own numbers.
That will work….;)
I know which one it is.
I also know that its parking on slot number 6.
But if i told you it wouldnt be a mystery would it?
You will know soon enough.:)
Which leaves me wondering what’s up as EADS has never appeared at Legends (going back to the 90s) with their entourage, nor did Red 7 by its former owner. Yet both groups have visited La Ferte Alais over the years and now RIAT has pulled the EADS 109 out of their hat!
T J
Here you go ,why dont you ask them.
What really surprises me is that they don’t seem fit to book one of the EADS 109/ Buchon’s for Legends.
T J
“They” try very hard to put something new in front of “you” every year.
Do you really think that a collection such as TFC have not been down every
route to secure these aircraft or others that are based in europe to get them to Flying Legends?
I know for a fact “they” have a list of every historic aircraft based in europe.
These operators are asked to attended each year, including the ones you mention, some reply ,some dont.
So it is not a case of “them” not seeing fit to book a certain aircraft.
Seems a strange one to have her refurbed and then sold on.
Er…. ML417, SM832 ,NH799, SM969, Hurricane IV, P-51C
All refurbished then sold on…….
But what do i know…….
The mk 9 MK356.
Are there any significant Spitfire drawings that exist outside of the RAFM collection?
Yes.
Have they confirmed how they are gonna paint it?
With Devilbiss , paint , masking tape and paper.:D
We have comprehensive factory drawings for all p-47 markings and stencils.
We also have been building up a large collection of period photos from those involved with the thunderbolt past and present all over the world to insure all is correct.
Be a while before we paint it yet.
Think you will find thats a primer used in NZ where the wing was built.
It was painted over with the curtis green by california aerofab on assembly.
