it quite would look like this…

quite ingenious better than the s-duct, provides radar blocking while giving room between the engines for more missiles.

Terrible idea??? The PAK-FA and F-35 would be a excellent Hi-Low Mix vs the PAF/PLAAF. Plus, it gives India a 5th Generation Option. If, either experience major technical problems…….

If it does happen which one would be the Low :diablo:

I am not sure but in a report whcih I read in a magazine one top boeing official was saying that they have already demonstrated the EPE engine. Not sure if its flying or not, possibly it is as the Super Hornets on offer to India are offered with the EPE engine.

It is called the Super Hornet international roadmap at the moment but some of the technologies will be funded by future USN upgrades to their Block II+ Super Hornets. Contrary to people believe according to Boeing the EPE engines are not in the drawing board they are already built prototypes and demonstrated this.

I think Brazil will want to build one on their own, the carrier.

Since FX-2 may get retendered I think the F 35 stands a great chance.

More like, IAF 2030, Su-30MKI, FGFA, AMCMA, Tejas…..AND F-35? IMO, that would be a terrible idea.

Yes I know that would be horrible but cannot be ruled out.

    IAF 2011 – Su-30MKI, MIG 21, Jaguar, Mig 29, MIG 27, Mirage 2000, LCA.

Trust me I don’t want the F 35 for the IAF either but something in me (instinct perhaps) tells me that we will be saddled with it in the future.

Threat pereceptions can change pretty quickly and so can alliances, a small conflict in the Eastern border is all it takes to drive India into American arms.

How many are willig to bet the Pak-Fa will evolve into a CV aircraft just like the Flanker=Su-33?

The wide body/high lift design, beefed-up MLG on the Pak-Fa does point in that way, it could be just minor re-designing to make it Naval operational.
Of course this is a long way into the future.
Just as a future IN F-35C would be..

Judging by Indias respond to Pentagon F-35 offer, Fishing twards the Indian MMRCA Tender, there wont be any F-35 for IN eighter.
When all the Mig-29K have exceeded its service life, there will be other Navy aircraft to choose from beond the costly F-35C.
“It can only be one FGFA for India”, pretty much says it all. It includes IN too.

Make your bet, a Navalized Pak-Fa or F-35C?:)

Sure Sure. My bet is the F 35.

And I will put some money on the F 35 entering IAF service further down the line as well.

    IAF 2030 – FGFA, AMCA, F 35. 😎

As if your caring and wanting this bird or that matters ! We are all just expresisng our opinions here.

But in a country were half a trillion dollars worth of black money is siphoned of in the naughties alone in foriegn bank accounts and where they sell they undersell the 2G spectrum worth nearly two MRCA deals for peanuts, it don’t really matter whichever way the deal goes.

The current government clearly don’t care about corruption or anything, so I am confident whatever happens they will just ask some Minister to have a go at the courts or CAG and get on with it.

Rajat Pandit ? I would rather believe take your word than a report from him. The official line from named officials in India and U.S has been that.

    1. IAF has not asked for F 35.
    2. If IAF or GOI expresses interest the Americans will negotiate.

Navy IMHO is more or less certain to get the F 35 at some point.
