India have an active UCAV programme in the AURA, are you aware of any such programs in Pakistan. I would say without Chinese help Pakistan won’t be able to field a UCAV in the same time frame as India will be able to.
C-17 done deal.
Those bloody C17s are so expensive.
Everyone in this thread could be a better Aerospace/defense Jounrno than these idiots.
May be IN needs something that can overwhelm Block 50/52 F 16s as they blockade/bomb Karachi. For that they need something better than the NLCA/MIG 29K.
Some fossils from the past.
I said the IAF has flown against the F16 – US, Singapore and maybe Israeli. The F16IN is a proposed evolution not yet in existence so obviously it hasn’t been flown against.
All the evidence points to Typhoon being selected in some measure for it’s WVR performance – see Ashley Tellis’s analysis and the IAF’s pointing out that the reason the the down select was partially based on this – don’t remember the exact words but it’s available on Livefist maybe?
Again you are missing the point. An F 16 with the performance (aerodynamic) of Block 50/52 was never on offer for the IAF, it got a strike/BVR oriented F 16 which stood no chance against any of the MRCA contenders in WVR.
Also please don’t swallow what all Ashley J Tellis writes, His first report was full of factual errors with respect to several aircraft, the second report got a good reply from some one called Mihir Shah, and his response to that was far from convincing. Mr.Tellis sounds more or less like a an American apparently pissed of because the Super Hornet was not selected.
Well the F 16 IN does not compare favourably in a dogfight with the Block 50/52, and I doubt its WVR capabilities is what favoured the typhoon.
Why do you say F 16 vs JF 17 is a nonsensical debate ?
I for one believe in the near-medium future with more updates it could easily reach F 16 Block 50+ capabilities, or more (if they go for an AESA for example).
The Americans and Europeans are certainly getting rich because of the India Pakistan rivalry.
The question is apart from the public postures do they really want India and Pakistan to bury the hatchet and be friends ? I guess not.
Yes IAF will select the Airbus again and this time at a lower cost.
IAF Mirage 2000 Upgrade Slowed By Weapons
It has emerged that India’s $2.4-billion proposal to upgrade 51 IAF Dassault Mirage 2000H/TH fighters — widely expected to be cleared by the government’s apex approval body this month — hasn’t come up because the attached contract for weapons/armaments with MBDA hasn’t been cleared yet by India’s Ministry of Finance. India’s apex Cabinet Committee on Security will not consider the primary upgrade contract separate from the constituent weapon contract, obviously. It is not clear at this stage if the armament contract remains with the Ministry of Finance on account of normal procedural delays or more specific price concerns. Will update this post.
IAF Receives First Upgraded An-32s, Designated An-32RE
A bit underwhelmed no glass cockpits and all that as I hoped.
It’s funny cause it’s true? 😉
A lot of pilots take pictures he was over reacting 😉
No India did not have as many options as we have now back in the 90s, and India and China basically helped Sukhoi/MIG survive during those difficult times.
MIG 29K was 60% increase
