    India completes basic trainer trials

India has completed flight trials for its new basic trainer aircraft, with the country’s ministry of defence now considering the air force’s flight evaluations.

“The flight evaluations are over, the reports are with the ministry, and the next step will be contract negotiations,” says the Indian air force.

The service adds that a selection should be made quickly, although it did not provide a specific date. “We require trainers more than anything else, so the selection will be expedited.”

In contention for the planned 75-aircraft deal are the Airbus Military-promoted PZL-130 Orlik, Alenia Aermacchi M-311, Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano, Grob G120TP, Korea Aerospace Industries KT-1 and Pilatus PC-7.

IAF inducts second SU-30 squadron in northeast

Chabua (Assam), March 1 (IANS) The Indian Air Force Tuesday inducted a second squadron of its frontline Sukhoi-SU30 combat jets in the northeast as part of a strategic deployment of advanced assets close to the Chinese border, an officer said.

A single Su-30 has presently been stationed at the Chabua air base, about 450 km east of Assam’s main city of Guwahati, with the strength of the squadron gradually being raised to 18 aircraft.

‘The idea is to ensure that the skies and the borders in the east are well protected and secured. The Sukhois can be used for both offensive as well as defensive purposes,’ Air Marshal K.K. Nohwar, air officer commanding-in-chief of the Eastern Air Command, told reporters after the formal induction ceremony.

Single crystal blades are nothing new at all. Every MMRCA candidate has them. Even the Su-30’s currently flown by India have them. Now that they are getting help from SNECMA on the Kaveri this shouldn’t even be an issue.

As for an AESA, all MMRCA candidates have an AESA. Perhaps the American offers are a bit more mature, but you can bet India won’t be getting full ToT on an American AESA (at least not on a non-watered down version), despite what the RFP says.

Nothing new but I doubt India has got the ToT with these deals to make an engine with SC Blades on its own.

I meant single crystal blades etc.

And AESA radar not just modes.

Engine & Fighter Size AESA radar tech would be good wrt to ToT.

Nice pitch by LM, but what tech would India have access to? Very little, besides its just an F-16…Next please.

😉 India will get ToT as per the RFP or the fighter won’t qualify.

of course it’ll have to compete with the F-16, Gripen, and to some extent, T-50 as well as the obstacle of having American Engines.

The only comptetitors I can see are the Gripen C/D and JF-17

    Ok Big one.

MOD to HAL: Build Tejas Mk.2 With Export In Mind

India’s Department of Defence Production has asked agencies developing the Mk.2 version of the indigenous Tejas light combat aircraft to plan ahead to position the aircraft for export. HAL is understood to have been asked to conduct a study assessing interest in the light fighter. A previous study, conducted by DRDO in 2005, made no specific observations except to say that the aircraft had “elicited international interest and could be positioned as an export item on the lines of the Advanced Light Helicopter”.

How much more pathetic can your standards be? What do you know of air force professionalism? If you don’t like the RuAF tactical jets, look at the strategic bomber fleet (how’s that for the professional AF look?)…

Israel’s AF, the best smaller AF around, uses camo schemes too. Why don’t you take a crap all over them too while you’re at it?

Read my comment iw asnt syaing Ruaf was not professional. I was just saying my opinion that Russian glossy camo looks eww.

Obama needs congressional approval.. On the other hand, would French companies,Dassault , Thales and Safran agree on full technology transfer?
IMO , no way. Can’t imagine Dassault giving away its excellent digital fly-by-wire technology just for 36 fighters which will not even produced in Merignac?

Braziliens might fall into a trap..They chose the RAFALE and soon realize they don’t get more TT than what the US Congress would approve for SH..

They should buy the LCA and get its excellent digital fbw as ToT.:p

I still would like to know how you measure “professional” pitch black paint sceeme vs a more camo splinter sceeme like the many RuAF units, like the blueish Su-34 or the gray slinter on Su-35 ‘902’ and Pak-Fa ’51’?

It has nothing to do with professionalism, your claim is not professional nor is it logical.

Ia a Camo paint is requirered, then who’s got the most efficient one?
Surely not in plain matt black!

I was not saying RuAF is not professional just that most of the top air forces in the world stopped using wierd camos long ago.

As for the colours TR1 its personal choice in my personal opinion (I am sure some others will agree) the glossy Russian camo is sickening and takes the beauty out of fine aircraft. The J-20s superior looking finish is mosly due to the black paint.

Just something more professional like the YF-22 or J-20. Personally sick of stupid paint schemes.
