Reality is Su-25SM is the sensible near and mid future solution. Upgrade is dirt cheap, airframe and components are for the most part dirt cheap and plentiful.
In the kind of Kavkaz, mountainous scenario that Russia is likely to employ Su-25 in, it is absolutely still desirable. If anything, the proliferation of high power, long range and high altitude SAMs just brings a high flying multirole aircraft into danger. Su-25 can dodge that to an extent by flying low, and is rather resistant to the low altitude threats. Given that Su-34 is intended to have armor as well, clearly the RuAF desires this capability.
