You read that on this forum, from JSR, who is a slightly biased source to put lightly. The MiG-31 will be around for a long time, no doubt, but it is way too early to talk about the F-22s service life. Do I think the MiG-31BM will outservice the F-22? Absolutely not.

Speaking of the MiG-31, in Russian Air Power Gordon and/or Komissarov write that it is “the world’s sole operational fighter capable of efficiently tackling stealthy, low-flying cruise missiles.”

Any comment on this?

Well it’s ability for sustained, high speed interception as a very purpose driven platform certainly supports this idea. Avionics were designed for the role from the start as well.

Yefim Gordon for example refers to it as semi-active radar, and active for the R-37. Anyways, splitting hairs.
