An ability that is very relevant to the subject, that is engaging the future stealth birds. Unlike the Typhoon, the F-35 would not face aircraft that can pick it up and engage it at ranges where its own set would be useless.
So given that yes, it’s bull. Besides which passive radar LO and VLO are going to be negated by advances in opposing technologies, to what extent by the time the F35 reaches service is the unknown.

Nevermind that the F-35s RCS will STILL be a huge advantage against todays, and legacy, anti-aircraft systems and fighters. But please, tell me what advances are likely to make themselves known on the PAK-FA and J-20, that will render the RCS reduction SO useless as to make it a nonfactor when comparing their performance relative to F-35 or the TYphoon?

I agree both platforms have advantages and disadvantages, the Typhoon as demonstrated has the advantage in the air to air arena and the F35 in the 2025 timeframe will probably make a decent bombtruck striker

I actually have a question about Rafale thrust, the UAE supposedly was not impressed, but just doing calculations on empty, loaded, maximum thrust to weight ratios, the results are pretty good at the very least. What did the UAE want, or do the engines have some specific issues?
Not sure what Brimstone has to do AASM, I think Eagle1 brought it up because of India’s desire for a nuclear stand off weapon on a number of planes (though I think they are going the Sukhoi route for that, and have Brahmos in any case).

But TR1, EAP is not a Typhoon prototype, you don’t know how either the PAK-FA or to an even greater extent J20 handle, and you don’t know what sensors any of the aircraft will carry (although you know a lot more about PAK-FA than me).

Of course there is lots of ambiguity about them (J-20 is very detail lacking) but lets take PAK-FA for example, I am going by what Sukhoi was able to do with Su-27 airframe, take newer, more refined aerodynamics, internal weapons, a lighter body (but with vast fuel capacity) and much more powerful engines…you see where I am going with this. Regarding sensors, it will have an elaborate multi-array AESA from the start, Captor doesn’t look great when compared with Irbis as is, an elaborate distributed optical system (On level of DAS? Maybe? Who knows at this point..)….
Keep in mind, by no means do I think the “new gen” whatever you want to call them big boys make the Typhoon worthless, or that RCS reduction is some silver bullet, I just think what the F-35 offers will be more useful in a pure A2A role against them. Of course Japan won’t just be facing PAK-FA or J-20s, or even mostly face them, and that is another question all together.

I know what I’d rather have if I was Japan, and that’s not an aircraft (The Typhoon) that will likely be outmatched in everything from sensors, flight performance, and RCS, when the PAK-FA and J-20 enter service. F-35 at least offers VLO and a much more interesting sensor suit.
