Actually, I was only talking about the 885, and the comments made by “Western” posters. The comments (based on a few external shots) were stupid, they were unfounded, and they did sound amateur.
I think I’ll take the skills of some of the most experienced submarine producers over some external criticism.
Fact of the matter is, typical Western arrogance about Russian submarine building surfaced again when the 885 was launched.
All those idiot foreign nations who continue to buy Kilos, if only they read this thread.
Moving on.
It appears no grey on Su-34’s afterall. As i said earlier, we will be surprised.
Son of a bitch, what does a man have to do around here for some sexy grey Su-34s.
Also, whats the word @ NAPO regarding 2012, 12 airframes seems ambitious no?

The original Su-35s that were handed over to the Vitiazy, and are not likely to fly again.
Don’t you think retirement happened mostly because of force reduction :p ? Tu-22M3s have gone through repairs, its not like cannibalizing has been that prevelent in the fleet, AFAIK.
Glass cockpit is easy, that would be the simplest part of any upgrade.

Gefest stand.
The president of Sevmash gave a rather long press conference/interview this week where he talked rather candidly about the state of the Severodvinsk. ]

Final handover to the navy has been pushed back 6 months due to the fact that state acceptance trials of the Kalibr missile system are ongoing and the ship is the only available launch platform for this missile system. There were problems with subsystem suppliers, but much like with the Nerpa those have been sorted out.
We can look forward to much more predictable delivery times now that the funding picture has been “clarified.”
Nowhere does he say anything about it being a death trap, sailors being afraid to step foot on the ship or him being at all worried about it. And if the thing sinks this is the guy who gets to spend a decade in Siberia pondering why so his being so unemotional about the whole thing should tell you a lot more than some anonymous poster on a message board.
Nice find.
From the post:
Sevmash will take on construction of two diesel-electric proyekt 636 from Admiralty Wharves. This will lighten the workload of the latter, and use excess capacity at the former.
Also:
KB Malakhit has developed repair and modernization plans for the Akula-class (Proyekt 971, Bars). Money’s been allocated and Zvezdochka will do the work.
Excellent.

Delayed till Monday, due to weather conditions.
Were it a fake, I doubt they would let such high res images to be taken.
Quite sure it is the real deal.
The change is supposed to be a simple frame removal AFAIK, instead of the 4 transparencies, I think there will be 3? The front support likely to be removed. Perhaps RCS treatment too, but I have no reason to be sure of that.
There is an available, simple and affordable Gefest&T upgrade for Tu-22m3, like the Su-24 one. Anything more substantial would be complicate, expensive, and with an uncertain time frame.
On the other hand, if we are talking about sea denial, then all you need is the appropriate weapons and integrate them.
