    Agreed but honestly I won’t take an order of such a small number to Algeria a great success, especially with the latest PLAAF/PLANAF-order in mind in comparison to the RuAF order … maybe You won’t agree, but IMO even of maybe 2-3 years late, in a few years there will be much more L-15 flying around than Yak-130.

    I highly disagree. We will see how many L-15s China can even make in a few years.
    Anyways, any sales of the L-15 are just a tribute to the Yak-130s original design ;).

    Why not? What’s lacking in it? Quality? Judging by the interest in the JF-17 I’d think it’d be adequate for many.

    For all this talk about the JF-17, how many orders has that translated it? Aside from Pakistan, there have been zero exports of this overhyped “affordable MiG-21 replacement!!!”..and it is nearly 2012

    At this point you could say the same for the Yak-130.;)

    Yak-130 has solid domestic orders, orders from Algeria, Vietnam, almost certainly Malaysia…L-15 being cheaper is suspect. The supersonic capability is needless for many customers. Production wise the Yak-130 is certainly ahead as well.

    The most relaible PS-90 series engine has quite a few components from EU and US.

    The lack of global support also stems from their unrelaibility. Customers don’t want to buy unrelaible engines. No customers, no global support.

    Uh what? That makes no sense.

    The lack of global support is why they don’t buy, not unreliability. All airliners need a support network, nobody is going to buy one of like ten Tu-204s that the entire continent operates.

    All airliners have components from around the world, nothing new.

    You have figures for PS-90 reliability in service?

    Why Russia is so backwards in turbofan technology when it comes to airliners.

    How many nations are NOT backwards when it comes to turbofan technology for airliners? Not exactly a common industry.

    Not to mention, collapse of USSR, take a wild guess what that did to modern engine production.

    Well the hulls of both Kronshdadt and Sevastopol are either done or almost done, so I suppose it would be feasible to just use the shells to install new internals. Would be a shame to scrap em.

    Interesting, the Yak-130 (real, not CG) that is prominent in the vid is the one with those big wingtip pods.

    First time i heard Blacksea is extension of Mediterranean. Expect to have Blacksea fleet beefup first.

    Replying to a query on the reports of the Russian fleet movement in the Mediterranean Sea, the ambassador said there was nothing new in the Russian presence as his country’s fleet had always been carrying out monitoring duties along the region. He said the Black sea is an extension of the Mediterranean Sea and his country is duty-bound to protect the area.

    Hmmm. Well big additions are already planned for BSF, at least 3 11356s and 3 new Kilos, at least one 20380 and a 22350, a number of small rocket ships…and as if that is not enough, there has been talk of transferring the Yaroslav Mudryy and Neystrashimy to the BSF.

    I certainly hope the BSF doesn’t suck up the rest of the new frigates and corvettes, and if these planned aquisitions do take place, the Moskva is transferred to the Pacific.

    Maybe they’ll just promote it for export then once they’ve rectified all the problems with the St. Petersberg.

    Why do Rubin bother, though? They also designed the Kilo class; they’ll be making money regardless of which model the Navy orders.:confused:

    Probably want to recup costs from the unfinished hulls.

    EDIT: Wait a second. I was wrong, the pic I posted is not one of the boats for the RuNAVY, but the export Amur. Not anywhere near done ofc, but that leaves the 2 other Lada hulls, in better states of completion. Construction was frozen in 2009.

    According to DIMMI’s blog, construction of both Kronshdadt and Sevastopol was also frozen at that time.

    Yet another new Mi-26 for the RuAF, on trials @ Rostvertol. Presumably the 3rd (2 were seen in the new grey scheme earlier this year) of 4 examples to be handed over in 2011.

    I think that is Rubin trying to salvage the situation, the Navy apparently is done with the project.
