Rather than extending the life of original F-15C/D why not just take the money and developed for F-15 Stealth Variance ? They can recoup the money when they sell the F-15 SE to ROK, Singapore, Japan, Australia, or anyone else that want F-22 or waiting for F-35 but increasingly worried with the spiraling upward cost trend.

You seen the estimated price tags on those Silent Eagles? North of 100 million makes the F-35 more attractive.

Adjusting to reality is what this is. Nothing wrong with it, as long as F-15 airframe life can be safely and cost-effectively increased.

Relevant to aviation:

He said pilot flight hours are at 90 per year. He said it’s planned to increase them to 130 next year, and then to 220 at some point.

Great news if true, if the 90 indicates a rough average across the board, and 130 in 2012 is much better than expected in the near future.

Because Russian generals have a habit of saying:

1.) Random **** that doesn’t correspond with reality
2.) Random **** that contradicts itself
3.) Trolling the defense industry for the obvious reasons.

Zelin conveniently did not point out any performance specifics, but more of a production volume complaint.

But as you know there are still some complains about the industry’s most advanced serial fighter Su-35! There is big expectations from the PAK-FA! When I compare the cockpits of the PAK-FA and F-35 also there is a big difference about the graphics and the feeling that you have an ultra high tech machine! I know it doesn’t change the capabilities of the aircraft but…

The Su-35 complaints are more like Zelin trolling.

Given how Russia has given aid to India on sensitive subjects like submarine launched missiles, I think (hope!) they don’t follow those silly guidelines beyond rhetoric. Honestly, who would know/be able to do anything if Indian missiles like Brahmos and Klub actually have a range similar to their equivalents in Russian service? Russian Klub has range well well above 1000km, you guys really think India and Russia couldn’t work something out under the table?

Russian sources constantly use disinformation, especially on sensitive subjects.

Also it is worth pointing out that the Russian development on Avionics has infact made great progress in the 5 last years.
I still get hints of the same old ‘Russia make crap from Avionics like during the cold war bla bla bla’..

Exactly why I think the SU-30MKI analogy is inaccurate.

They are from Vietnamese Su-30s, but the Su-30M2 is from the same line and has almost certainty an identical cockpit.

MKI was a result of India needing more advanced capability than vanilla Su-27 could provide, and the fact that Russian and Indian components were quite behind the best world standard at the time.

PAK-FA will have top tier components from the start, and I suspect the FGFA will have more Indian, rather than “western” equivalents to Russian avionics. The majority of the aircraft being Russian designed, well, I thought that was a logical conclusion from the start.

Some good news. Voronezh, after modernization, has passed trials. Service life extended by 3.5 years. The Smolenks, another 949A, is taking the Voronzezh’s place, and will finish modernization by 2014. At the same time the 971 Leopard has arrived at the yard for overhaul and modernization.
