Nope, plenty of T-10s records stand.

How about some new record setting with Su-35 airframe and engines?

1.) Could be, would be, maybe….but it hasn’t been yet, nor does it look like it will be.

2.) You are assuming you need the tanker top off on each mission. You do not. However it does give flexibility when it is required. With the tanker, you can probably perform longer distance strike missions than the current all Su-33 fleet.

Even if Su-33 can take off with a large fuel load though, the MiG-29K buddy tanker can give you more tactical flexibility IMO. Bigger internal fuel or not, that ability to top your planes off is great to have.

Plus it makes for great pics.

Anyways since Ru Navy is keeping both Su-33 and MiG-29K, maybe we will see MiG-29K refueling Su-33s. 😉

its quite possible that the two will merge their air forces together purely out of economic reasons.

    Not sure if serious….

also Su-33 doesn’t take up as much space as some people are pointing out. Ken Flanker pointed out that it can actually take less space because of the way its wings fold.

Well, the wing span is indeed smaller when folded ( I think MiG-29KUBs has stayed the same?) but size is not all about wingspan. The Su-33 is huge otherwise as well. MiG-29K overall has a smaller footprint.

As usual, the Indian members of this forum completely derail the thread into yet another India vs China debate (India Strong!11!1!) complete with the usual petty infantile sniping as was perhaps Hotdogs intention all along. 😀

You are right! It is not like the whole subject was started by some Chinese troll who made idiotic comments regarding the MiG-29K and….a Chinese test pilot :o.

Oh well, faboyism crosses national boundaries.

Have Russian reports spoken of any plans to upgrade the Su-33 or is a naval version of PAK-FA considered?

Su-33 got minor upgrade, really a deep overhaul recently. New engines however, but nothing like the SMs cockpit.

Naval PAKFA is definite long term intention.

I never said that, in defense technology in general China is several decades ahead of India. I just do not agree with the means by which they have gained their rapid advance. 🙂

I wouldn’t go that far. Several decades ago the Chinese military industry was laughable. No reason India can’t make large gains.

One can recognize the decision that the PLA made, one can even say the decision has some merit and in the context of Chinese aviation as a whole makes sense, as well as identify a rip-off when you see one. The two are not incompatible.

Zhuk-AE and the uprated RD-33MK, as well as TVC nozzles would be logical and easy additions sometime later this decade IMO.

look, one can plaster words like “rip-off”, “copy-cat”, “stolen”, all over the place. go ahead its your perogragative.

It is not a prerogative. It is fact. That is why the attitude of Chinese posters annoys people.

Listen you are a good poster, I have no personal issue with you. I just don’t like seeing people beat around the bush, and try to justify and slyly word what is a plan and simple rip off.

How is it superior ? the larger take off weight is offset by STOBAR operations, the larger radar aperture size offset by the larger RCS size, the newer 29Ks include RCS reduction measures for example. There is also an 1064 TRM AESA radar developed for the MIG 35 that can replace the current Zhuk M. Oh and it has Top Owl HMDS & HOBS missiles. And can use almost all Russian A2G,Anti ship and anti air munitions.

    😎

The only response you will get is ; Bigger durr, more range durr, China chose (lol) it!

What was not one of them was the notion that the MiG-29 could match the Su-27K in its role originally envisioned by the Soviets or the Chinese today.

Really, I would love to see some backing on this matter, from both the Russian and Indian perspectives. I am sure you have the certain evidence to back this up. Along with firm performance characteristics in all manners of carrier operation between the two aircraft. Funny how you bring up the political angle, when ignoring that completely in the original Soviet decision between the Su-33 and the MiG-29!

But to the biased China fanboys here, clearly there is no way the MiG-29K is better suited to Gorshkov and Kuznetsov operations than the Su-33- because China went for the Su-33! Not like the Russian navy hasn’t had years of actual experience with the carrier and plane!

With some people its not a world of trade offs, but clear cut superiority I guess. Talk about a land of fantasies.

Oh I think it’s quite obvious that the Chinese are admitting that the J-15 is a Su27K/Su-33 “rip-off”. What seems to be the problem is that Indians and some Russians are incapable of admitting that the rip-off is still superior to the Mig-29K. :diablo:

Oh look, more unsubstantiated fantasies. Good job! 😀
