Bulgarias mil budget for 2010 is something like 650 million. Azerbaijan is spending upwards of 2 billion in 2011. Have you seen the relative purchases the two have made recently? Pretty steep gap.

overrated? so when was the last time a small air force bought the MiG-29M, original Su-35, or any other new variant from Russia. Oh that’s right none. When was the last time a small air force bought a Russian aircraft that was adopted by a large air force (PLAAF, IAF).. oh yeah nearly most of them. Indonesia, Vietnam and Venezuela flying similar aircraft to those in China. Malaysia and Algeria flying something similar to the IAF MKIs.

Which doesn’t change the fact that the MiG-29K has a solid order book- and the MiG-35 is very very similar. It is not exactly a novel type. What does original Su-35 even have to do with anything? It was barely finished half working product, incomparable to MiG-35 program. Also Syria has ordered the miG-29M while we are on the subject.

then why not sell the MiG-29K? duh its two different aircraft. Only recently they jammed some 35 stuff into the 29K for the MMRCA trials because Russia was lagging in getting their demonstrator up to stuff. its as incomplete as the Gripen NG. You think some small air force wants to pay for developing the rest of it by themselves? be realistic
The MiG-29M is still on offer, today it is basically the miG-29K without carrier equipment. MiG-29M/35 is pretty close in my book, I don’t particularly differentiate between the two-its 95% electronics anyways. What development would they have to pay?

Ukraine has no need and can upgrade on their own. Kazakhstan is rich in petrodollars and has threats from China and Uzbekistan.. but they got plenty of Su-27s. A MiG-35 is useless for them.

You know that airframe hours don’t last forever right? Unless they plan to go right to PAK-FA, I don’t think a smaller aircraft is that unlikely.

The plane was in conservation for 10 years, this was first flight since. Needless to say, some systems failed….someone give that pilot a medal. 😮
