they can use the anti-ship and ant-sub variant of the Klub family. I can’t be sure, but there is a possiblity that the Gepard may have been integrated with the Klub family? Prior to Nerpa, they might have tested the same in some Akula class submarine. Am i wrong?
Tested, maybe, I don’t see a compatibility issue too hard to overcome, but do they employ them, as in, have them in stock/onboard/nearby…no. That I can assure you they do not, and IMO will not.
So yes, Scooter, a US type IS NOT going to win!
Come on man. When that truth finally settles in, Scooter will just declare that performance was not the reason for the choice, for had it been, clearly a US type would have been chosen.
And yes, this whole competition brings out the best in fabois of all flavors.
What does the MiG-35 have to do with Sakaaschivili?
Edit: I think Su-34 is much more appropriate aircraft..
rafale vs mig 29 is a joke. The 29 is two leagues behind. In terms of sensor integration, sensor fusion, sensor technology, EW…the mig is dropped completely. Having talked to rafale pilots in Paris two years ago who did red flag with the indians, even the Mki is quite far behind in this regard. The level of situation awarness is totally different. The mig and the sukhoi are pretty work intensive while with the rafale you can grasp the tactical situation in just one look. That the fundamental difference with those platform. Talking only about radar size is just over simplistic.
Rafale pilots saying their mount is ahead of the MKI? How shocking
I am sure if it were the case Mig-35 would have been the top performer of MMRCA try outs. Mig-29 was a great aeronautical design and had a lot of potential if it had better engines and avionics. Sadly it could never live up to its hype. I have not yet seen a single IAF Mig-29 with r-77, because its radar is not capable enough to utilize the range of r77. Hopefully this should change with upgrades.
It has nothing to do with range…..since R-27 out ranges R-77. or AMRAAM. or MICA, whatever.
Radar size isn’t really important for Rafale? That’s nonsense, and the Rafale will absolutely suffer from having such a small array.

That weird Su-27 scheme.

new bird.

Photos from past few days.
Some fine looking new MiG-29UBs:

Not new, but looks good nonetheless. The glorious paint scheme of the reforms lol

What a beauty ,Tu-204-300

Those wings and tall landing gear sure are good looking.

Thank you for your responses Alexey, Snow Monkey, Austin. Interesting discussion.
AN-148 and Superjet are both teeth cutting as Snow Monkey put- but this process is critical. Tu-204SM is a temporary solution of course. I really hope An-148 doesn’t sink because of the recent problems. MC-21, now thats going to be even more interesting.
6) 5) 4) 3)
From the less mature and underdeveloped to the most mature and most capable.Mig-35 was said to have performed very poorly during the trials and Super Hornet should lead the pack of eliminated aircrafts comfortably.
Yeah, lost of things are “said”. I am still waiting for actual proof.
MMRCA ranking :
1) Rafale
2) Eurofighter
3) Super Hornet
4) F-16
5) Gripen NG
6) Mig-35
The ones out were not listed by ranking, where did you come to such a conclusion?
Curious to know in what sense the MiG-35 performed “poorly”.
Also, 63 mil ? lol, talk about wishful thinking.
I don’t agree with you according unstable foreign politic. With foreign politic is Ok.
How? The US and Russia are constantly at odds, right or wrong, even to this day. The US recently placed sanctions on Russian companies that stopped the export of aircraft with US components. Pretty clear that Russia should steer clear…
An-148 isn’t going to be racking up any orders any time soon, we all know why….not to mention it is basically legacy Soviet development…if the SSJ is mediocre, then the An-148 is downright unimpressive. The initial customer reaction to the An has been less than stellar to put lightly, and it is still unprofitable compared to 737 I believe.
Going the 40% Russian way is 100% correct in my opinion, because it mirrors how most successful airliner producers do it. Bring in lots of trusted Western content, the aircraft is much more likely to sell abroad. How many non CIS sales for the An-148 have? Basically none…
