Russia holding back Su-30 supplies is a retarded prospect that completely ignores the commercial, strategic, and geo-political ties between India and Russia. It won’t happen.

If I recall correctly the BrahMos-2 hypersonic AShM is being developed with the UKSK VLS in mind. Given the range is limited to 300km only for MTCR reasons, it may be quite possible to have a 450+km domestic version, which would pack as much power as Granit.

Also, there’s been talk about extending the Klub’s range to 400-500km, so that may not be a major problem anymore. The Kirovs can carry more Klub/BrahMos-2s than Granits, so it may actually improve their attack capability.

There are domestic hypersonic AShM programs. Given how seemingly reluctant the RuNavy has been to induct the Brahmos, I doubt they will go for BarhMos 2 either.

Probably thought the placement of engines are overexposed and with more powerful engines it will have worse(er?) IR suppression?

Yeah, but save maybe F-22 that can be said of any plane. A Banal comment on his part really.

Thanks. I guess that would be a new addition to IAF Mig-29’s , hence the unpainted ghastly yellow surface. Any idea on how much extra fuel that would translate into ?

Yeah just take a look at the RuAF MiG-29SMTs, the profile is identical. It looks much better when it is painted over, though by no means does it add aesthetically.

Why do you think it will be club? Could be extended range Yakhont. Could be the new Tsirkon complex being worked on. Many choices.

Fort will clearly be replaced a navalized variant of the plethora of new long range AD missiles in development right now.

A frigate, it will not be.

can anyone tell me whats that ugly yellow hump on the back ? increased fuel capacity ? EW suite ?

Mostly fuel. MiG-29 has been seen with the hump for years.

Do we really know how the 956s boilers have performed in China though? They certainly have a poor record compared to 1155s in Russia.

It was like 40% done or something on launch, wouldn’t surprise me if most of the work done so far was internal.
