Depends what performance India wants. To be honest Chinook isn’t really comparable to the Mi-26, the size/performance gap is huge.

Thanks for the effort man, appreciated.

Ah, very nice find. Testing is undergoing on one (or two) of the MiG-29Ks diverted from the production line for the MiG-35 program. Took to the air months ago.

Any better photo, with that info tablet visible perhaps?

From Pilot. Apparently the MiG-29K thing is bull****, first planes wont be seen till 2012 at the earliest, and the contract is not finalized or signed yet. Makes sense, seemed way too fast to be true.

Ah ok, no chance for up-scaled Zhuk-AE in that case. I was under the impression 117S was slightly larger and required modification to fit.

I am curious if we will see AL-31MF1 inserted on the Su-30MKI at some point, perhaps close to 2020 when engine life runs out. It is a relatively straightforward installation and a healthy power boost. The airframe has so much growth potential.

Certainly interesting to see what option they go for. I am sure Phazatron would love to break into the Su-30 market.
What is the time frame for the upgrade? If they want a NIIP AESA it will be a little bit of time before it is ready.

Yeah, well, I know but we’ll have to wait for a pic of PAK-FA
serial unit with its nose open to know about the new one!

Unless you have that somewhere, TR1?

    Tay.

1064 element Zhuk-AE is already flying. And it has nothing to do with PAK-FA, since it will use a NIIP radar.

Here, as long as we want to count elements and having
posted that pic, catch this :

Anyone can count the number of elements on that baby!

For the laymen : opened nose of a MiG-35 with his Jouk hanging out!

    Tay.

Not really relevant, that is the old model.

Not often with India, and not definitely with this case. The Indian order basically paid for MiG-29K development being finished, the RuNavy order is piggybacking off that. If there is any difference in performance, as of now, it will be marginal.

The 3rd 11356 of the 2nd batch ordered by India will be launched in the middle of March.

I don’t see why it should be better, I see it being close to identical to the Indian Ks. The difference is likely the replacement of several foreign sourced components with domestic equivalents. Nothing major, something similar was done when the Algerian SMTs were taken by the RuAF.

There have been dozens of these “we MAY buy foreign systems” announcements. Most of them turned out to be empty nonsense. Don’t worry, 22350 is getting domestic turbines, and the gun has already been stated as the A-192 130mm weapon.

Russia navy doesn’t need any of this to happen to its gun mounts:
