Dan Griffith has a pretty impressive number.
Image published with some reports shows the Zero’s fin and rudder destroyed.

Dakota’s and DC6, Twin Pioneer, Canberra WK163… what will become of them?
You need to delink the DC-6 from the CAF; it has been under separate ownership for some time now. Its potential and the proposals for its future are described here: http://thedc6.com/ownership/
It is stored dismantled at private premises.
I recall liaising with Les when you first started work on ‘ HTE and sent him some old photos. That was back in 2004, how time flies. Sad to hear of his passing but glad he did manage a flight in ‘KIU.

Always impressed when I visit your superb museum. I was at Sywell last weekend for a VAC gathering, not realising your museum was yet to reopen I wandered over. There I found someone who explained politely I would have to return in March – but on that wet and cold day I noticed work was apace repainting the floor. It is at times like that when you are reminded of the year-round effort put in at museums and collections that enable us all to enjoy them in the open season. Well done guys!

Interesting and detailed report of that Tintagel incident by the pilot of the Hunter concerned here:

Thank you mjr for lucid and helpful explanations.

Me too! All that hard work getting the colours and markings absolutely right was wiped out in a boring overall silver scheme, not even with yellow trainer bands!
I would think that the type or accuracy of colour schemes is at the back of the queue of owner / operator concerns just at the moment!
Lost it’s prop (quite literally) on takeoff!
The reports to which you link report that the aircraft made a wheels up landing which then resulted in the prop detaching. Is there some other evidence / report then to suggest otherwise, as you mention it detached on t/o? The way I read the report is that it lost the prop when it departed the runway onto the grass during the wheels up landing.

My name on this forum may just have something to do with the fact I flew in this particular Consul when it was with the Rapid Flying Group at Baginton and so still have a soft spot for it!
I saw it later in store in Canada and then last year looked over the project when in its final stages in NZ. What a superb restoration – well done to all involved.

Old Stager,
I was gong to email Mark for some details about this, but as you flew in it when the view from its windows were temporarily blanked, how did they achieve this on ‘GJG? In WWII some were whitewashed over, but I can’t imagine the immaculate interior of ‘JG was so jeopardised! Did Mark & David apply some type of translucent film to the glazing?

The Millers displayed their Duxford based Rapide for a while with the cabin windows treated to replicate this wartime security feature.

Fascinating – thanks for providing the links Mark.
