We had the earlier Sidewinder, IIRC the L gave us head-on aspect which levelled the playing field against the Mirage and A4s. I remember a Harrier pilot praising this missile with great enthusiasm!
One that didn’t make it, crashed a couple of days after I took the photo.
Mmmmmm………like that very much!:eek:

I think a major benefit is aerodynamics transferred to road cars, after major manufacturers installed wind tunnels at their research/plants, etc. I remember my breeze block shaped Mk IV/V Cortina’s and my early box Granada, change into Sierra’s, then Mondeo’s and Granada’s went ‘jellymold’.
Some years ago Volvo went for the estate version of their saloon for touring car racing after data from a wind tunnel said it was quicker.
It wasn’t long ago that not every race team had access to a wind tunnel and these teams began to fall behind during the championship.
As the season runs through the year you often hear about the ‘aerodynamic package’ about to be fitted.

I would , an original Alfie Bat is anything from £200 upwards.:)
Just removing the (burnt) asbestos will be a major operation.
The H&S police are going to have a field day:eek:
Lots of things have made me swear today…
1) Getting my foot stood on by 2000lbs of Clydesdale horse;
2) Watching my friend fall off and being dragged along by her pony shortly after;
3)[B] The old sod who thought dawdling along the road from Innerleithen to Penicuik at 40mph was a good thing (it’s a 60)
.
………is that not bad for a horse??:eek:

Welcome to the forum.
I believe Ian Hunt is the fountain of knowledge regarding 214 squadron Fortresses. Sadly due to hospital, I have not finished my sideview of this aeroplane yet.
Try giving Ian a PM.
