Bought a Honda C50 whilst at RAF Cottesmore 1975, following day rode it the 100 miles down the A1 to London, across Tower bridge and on to my home town of Maidstone (another 40 miles). My dad was gobsmacked!!

I returned back to base the following day. (I was a bit saddle sore:))

My favorite was recently sold, Fazer 600 in black that was used to commute from Newquay to Plymouth every day to work. (600 miles a week)

    I miss that bike.

I’m sort of with tornado64 here.

As long as there is no hope of parole, appeal or release ( except for new evidence ) and ‘life’ means ‘life’ ( they will die in prison ) I don’t see the need for execution.

If it is cheaper to keep them alive than have an inevitable messy ‘stay of execution’ after various appeals, then it becomes a bargain.

I think bringing back the death penalty would also see the reemergence of sandal wearing, tree hugging, hippies on ‘execution vigil’ outside said prison for several weeks, being guarded by the one remaining policeman the government forgot to sack.

……and James, as for post 140………..you naughty boy!

Myra was very calculating she didn’t go mad.

She was pretty desperate to get out, which gave a lot of people satisfaction when the government said ‘NO’.

Look at Peter Sutcliffe, definately not having a good time in prison!

I think most of the boasting is to wind up the public and the victims families.

We just need a cheaper way to keep them locked up (Tescos prison service?)

I have many friends here who I have never met in person, but have shown themselves to be made of the right stuff time and again.

Bruce, I feel the same way.

With offers of help setting up the Spitfire at Shoreham, ( it is just swinging the wings out that needs manpower for about 5 minutes and the same to fold her up ) and maybe a bit of carrying ( props, rudder, elevator etc ) it won’t feel such a chore and whack me out for the day. I just need to get a little closer to the day to see if I’m up to the journey.

Another forumite, Dr Strangelove pitched up this evening and helped with a bit of food and shifted bags of coal (I tried and gave up!) and made sure I was comfortable for the evening with a fire, etc. Thanks Mike.

I like this forum and the people on it. I like the ‘nitpickers’, the spelling and grammer mistakes (including mine), the willingness to share information, the humour and the odd bundle between the different members. Through Sunday night/ Monday morning I laughed out loud waking up the entire ward whilst reading ‘prickly subject’ in GD ( before it was modded!! )
I like the immense knowledge shared by the likes of professional aviation people (aka Andy Saunders, Mark12 etc) and most of all, the compassion shown to a fellow member who’s taken a beating and was feeling a little low.

    cheers

Never been a lover of capital punishment, always struck me as an easy way out for the perpitrator and a bit ‘final’ for the innocent (however small the odds)

Life should be life with no hope of parole.

Don’t mind them having TV/gameboys etc, cooked meals, visitors etc. Just as long as they remain incarcerated knowing they will never be able to walk through a park on a summers day, go down the pub with their mates, take their partners to a dance, make love, eat what they want when they want it, feel the sun on their face, smell of new cut grass……………kill people.

It drove Myra Hindley stir crazy, she tried everything to get out, even religion, it didn’t work.

No hope and no appeal (with exception of tangible new evidence)

    just my thoughts
