Do Tescos know you’re using their car park?:D
They could have used that trump card years ago, they didn’t.
They were the first to fly during the ash cloud crisis.

They may be poorly led and inept but they tried to make that airline work.
Most people at Plymouth think that Flybe was a nail in the coffin, the other stuff didn’t help of course.
He can now get a degree in ‘hot wiring’ and ‘twoc’……….brilliant:rolleyes:

Correct
I do not, and would never relish in the news that people lose their jobs.
Exactly what happened to me………..
I think the writing was on the wall well before Flybe went into NQY. It was on the wall when Sutton Harbour allowed development on the second runway at PLH which really spelt their long term intentions on what they want to do with the site.
…….not really, they really wanted it to work, I drove D.G. onto the airfield when the first (painted) ASW D8 landed at PCA. Never seen a prouder man.
We knew a couple of years later, when Flybe went into direct competiton with ASW to Gatwick it was a disaster. It was only a matter of time before they would fold. Flybe of course could absorb any loss on that route, with ASW gone they can do what they like.
Looking foward to that!:)
…..not a fully restored Whitley then??:diablo:
Thankyou, (both) Johns
Baz
100% photoshopped (poorly!!)
The ‘N’ does not follow the contours of the fuselage, its appears flat (same with the GC)
The captions do not relate to the main picture. (far left: Boulton Paul Defiant and left: Spitfire production …….)
It was 50 Sopwith Snipe monoplanes.
cheers Baz
Thanks again Ian!
Looking at the photos on the 214 Squadron website ( one of the best I’ve seen ) quite a lot have either 1,2 or all 3 painted out. There is a nice close-up with all over painted near the bottom. Its glaring when none are painted as you can see.
I guess they never fitted the guns in the cheek blisters as they would have got in the way of the extra jamming equipment and searchlights would interfere with the operator.
There are other photos of ‘Take it easy’ with colour added on one you might not have seen, added late July 2010, right at the bottom.

I will dig out my copy of “A Thousand Shall Fall” and actually read it!
If you click on ‘spitfireman’ and scroll down you will see a Coastal Fortress II I recently completed. I will post up my 214 Squadron scribble in a few days time.
BTW I have seen your name (contributing) on that website so please don’t be offended I have linked you back to it!!:D
Appreciate your effort
Baz
I suppose late 1940 he wasn’t quite as nutty as he was late 44:eek:
Was there not a switch off point during the war when the Allied command realised that if Hitler was kidnapped/assassinated it would lead to a better Military commander taking over? So ‘removing’ him could have extended the war?
Baz
Thankyou Ian
The water gets a bit muddy when searching on the internet.
You are right that its F/L Wynnes Fortress I am interested in as I would like to complete a side view profile of her ‘on the night’
I notice that some IIIs had the windows between the cockpit and the bomb aimers cupola ‘painted’ out with black cam. (some didn’t) Do you know the reason for this and if HB799 was blacked out?
(I meant ‘shot up’ and not ‘shot down’ BTW)
Thanks again
Baz
