Personally My view is just shoot them , they are a waste of space , I’m sick of the lame excuses , Bi -polar , broken homes , whatever , ….”LOAD! AIM ! wait for it ! FIRE! ” another one bites the dust , good riddance too. Put it on ‘U tube’ for all the ‘scumbags’ and excuses for humanity to see .
…….still sitting on the fence then…………..
The original ‘crash alarm’ red phone from Air Traffic at RAF St Mawgan circa 1940s to use in a display for all to see. Taken by the very person I asked before the end of his shift!(mid -90s) Probably sat in his attic or shed as we speak. (ar*****e.) 🙁
Sadly in Cornwall we’re only getting rain, right now the sun is coming up.
I do miss the ‘crump – crump – crump’ of walking through 6″ of virgin snow.
Nice photograph’s Paul, expected to see Mary Poppins in one of them!
Cheers

………..Not that it matters much to me, I haven’t watched anything other than the odd snippet for about three or four series.

Your not in a position to comment then:cool:

Well it don’t happen here that often, but it caused chaos:rolleyes: Should people be taught to drive in extreme conditions ? I have to say I did my ADI when I was 18. Your thoughts ?
Trying to remember when I was 18:(

hi graham regarding the spitfire. i used to build the fibreglass replicas and spent a year in 91/92 taking it around to many events and agree with your comments. im not sure if you know but the replica you have was one from my moulds which we built back in the 90’s under TDL Replicas. We built 12 of these fibreglass replicas and happy to see them going to good use. Like you say people like to touch alot and we are already equipped with the appropriate fencing and trailer etc. thank you for advice it is much appreciated . if your ever up this way feel free to get in contact and will be happy to show you round the spitfire regards terry

I believe I have one of yours in my garden and a nice job you did too. I had it restored last year so hopefully will last a few years to come. Check my website below

Just as a matter of interest, were the wings of a Sunderland built the same as a Stirling?? Does this mean we only have to find a clapped out Sunderland and convert the wings then the jobs halfway there.
A GRP construction method, as others have said, would be very heavy and difficult to do for such a large aircraft, you would need some sort of internal structure first. Using moulds is fine if your planning a production run, but for a one off it would be impractical. The James May Spit used an existing mould that will have been used many times before. You could do as in some Rutan designs and carve the basic shape from foam and then cover it with a layer of GRP to give it strength and rigidity but the Stirling has many flat or single curveture panels that cry out to be replicated in aluminium, just like the the original.
A tubular frame made from steel tubes welded together to form a backbone frame then bulked out with MDF or ply frames with ally skinning would work. Or take another similar aircraft and reprofile it like someone did to a Dak to get a Wellington, but I cannot think of a suitable base for a Stirling.Richard
Spot on 😀
…….. who here wouldn’t like to see a Stirling made from ‘anything’, parked with the Elvington Halifax and the BBMF Lanc for a photoshoot?
No, I don’t disagree with what your saying and in an ideal world would contribute in some way towards the goal of seeing a Stirling parked next to a Lanc and a Halifax but………. built properly.
I have 2 fibreglass replica Spitfires but No3 will be aluminum or real, although my Bf109e will probably be fibreglass my Hurricane will be traditional.

You simply can’t preserve the same airframe construction methodology in a plastic reproduction.
Agree, no if’s or buts.
What people do not understand is the weight of a fibreglass replica. I struggle with the elevators on my Spitfire yet you can hold a real one single-handed. My trailered Spit must weigh over two and a half tons and that is just the shell, there is no merlin, guns, armour, batteries, fuel tanks, radio etc, etc
To build a Stirling out of fibreglass, although not impossible, would be impracticle. The weight of this beast would be immense probably twice (or more) of the real thing. A wooden plug would have to be made and I doubt you would get change out of 200K, it’s not worth it.
Go real, use real tradesmen using real and traditional skills, using real methods and materials.
Just my thoughts

No good throwing water over my cat, it’s a Maine Coon………loves it! She has a big bowl of it to splash around in – then jump on my lap when I’m reading a newspaper, usually destroying it in the process. Most of her soft toys end up in her bowl and once my Landrover immobiliser, watch, glasses, house keys, pens, elastic bands, her hair brush, invading Hornets, her Furbee, anything that takes her fancy.
I’ve been owned by a cat one way or another for 25 years or more, wouldn’t have it any other way.
I live miles out in the country in a sectioned off road/layby and have the honour of people bringing their dogs 7+ miles out of Newquay to poo outside my house without cleaning up after themselves. So I know how you feel!
Can I throw water over them?? (it’s a minefield out there:eek:)
Anyway, I’m with Daz here…….don’t shoot them.
