Chilling out the last 20years with Tangerine Dream and Thief, particularly the Beach theme on a hot summers day, on the cliffs, overlooking Newquay, as a Coastguard.(waiting for the inevitable ‘shout’)

All the paintwork on my Spitfires is just that, paint. I had some vinyl lettering (1″) applied to one and didn’t like it, I only use original stencils now. Close up I could see the vinyl sit proud from the surface and therefore ruin the effect for me.

Trouble with vinyl is it is glossy/super glossy as opposed satin/matt and stands out a mile when applied.

I think much larger vinyl applications such as nose art, if done by artists like Inkworm, who understand these vagaries and applied carefully, with the correct finish, can be made to work.

If a punter at an airshow can obviously see vinyl on a warbird, he will feel slightly conned. (I would)

Does anyone know how the eject warning triangles would be applied to my D.H. Vampire T.11 ? ( mine have been hand painted and don’t look right(!))
Vinyl in this case might be the answer?

I’ll be honest and admit to the odd error here and there.

I don’t really mind being corrected when I make a mistake.

What gets up my nose, is the holier than thou, obnoxious and (sometimes) rude manner in which you (spelling police)correct people. Using the term “grrrrr” or a 😡 does nothing but exacerbate the problem. If by insulting us illiterate morons makes you feel better,…..please continue.

Correcting people by way of an insult or just to make yourself look ‘better educated’ only bullies some interesting aviation people off the forum.

This is an ‘Aviation Forum’ for aviation enthusiasts, not an ‘English literature’ class……….

However if the the council had taken a long term view and protected the airport, in the knowledge that the council would never be able to afford to build another they may today have had a greater asset.
If they had used many of the brownfield sites and old industrial land that was at the time in great abundance thay may have even had an international airport serving Wearside and the North of England. Yet the decision was made in true council style to get rid of the loss making airport !!!!!!!

Sounds like Plymouth Airport, shut just a few days ago(!)
