    Gent at the door

“Do you own the Spitfire on the trailer usually parked out the front?”

    “Yes”

“Would it be available for a show at Retallick?”:)

    “er……..what sort of show?”

    “Charity, Mother and baby”

“Are you sure you want my Spitfire for a mother and baby event?”

    “Yes”

“Being a charity I guess you don’t want to to pay an appearance fee?”

    “No”

    “Alright, I do charities,…………when?”

    “Friday” (today is Wednesday)

    “You’re kidding?”

    “er,……no”:o

“Most people book it up to a year in advance to have any chance in getting it at all. I do 4 charity events a year of which I’ve done 4 already and usually for Help for heroes, RAFA, RABF etc all pretty war like things, do you really think my Spitfire would be appropriate at a mother and baby show?”

    “er”

“Sorry mate, its booked this weekend to the Cosby show, but I know a bloke with a Spitfire, not quite as good as mine, with an engine that starts and cannons that fire, do you wish me to ask him?”:diablo:

“er, no thats alright, maybe next year”

“Yes, try and give me more than two days notice”

    “Bye”

You’d be indignant if some ill-informed but highly opinioned American started preaching about the beliefs of all Englishmen.

    Give it a go.

    It might wake us up

honestly tell me that thaughts didn’t go through your mind in all that practice that if someone was pi**ing you off you could put one right between thier eyeballs , because i did !!

    You shot someone?

Now I understand why you don’t like guns, you’re the last person in the world who should take up the hobby.

I routinely carried firearms for 35+ years and never thought of shooting anybody in all that time.

You tar everyone with the same brush.

We get the message, you don’t like guns, you don’t like gun owners, you don’t like people who like guns, you don’t like the the USAs freedom of carrying guns (which, quite frankly has got c*ck all to do with us)

guns bring out a persons horrible obnoxious side

    it sure does

This is a thread about a hobby, please, let posters put up posts without recourse and babbling drival

and switch on your spell checker.

Seriously, better she goes out this way than by an Exocet delivered by the Armada de la República Argentina defending the Malvinas.

I read somewhere that an ICBM targetted all airfields the Vs operated from, including all dispersal sites.

Once airborne they would not be able to land at their departure airfield as it would have been destroyed. (assuming they scrambled in time)

I think the Soviets took it seriously.

The flappy bits and the undercarriage are on separate hydraulic systems, if one leaks, it does not affect the other, they have their own hydraulic resevoirs.

    Shown nicely here

As an ex Airtrafficker through the 70s 80s I remember the lack panic when on 2 occassions Vulcans diverted with the same problem. (landed safe)
