You deserve a sainthood for what youve done for that Trident. I guess you love her so much! I love Tridents too!
Its about time the poor old bird was allowed to be retired. She could do with a bit of cosmetic surgery as she is looking a bit battered these days.
She will have been highly utilised as well prior to joining Ryanair in her previous life. Arent some of these 732s ex BY aircraft and they were very intensively utilised day and night on holiday charters!
Bet she doesnt get 5 minutes peace now working for Ryanair!
I hate Swiss with a passion. They are a no-frills carrier on short-haul but with full frills prices. How the mighty have fallen. Swissair would be rotating in her grave if she could see passengers on Swiss having to pay for a sandwich!
I will certainly pay a visit when she is re-homed. The trident 3b is one of my favourite aircraft. Will it be possible to visit the interior?
They both hate feeding their passengers as well, short-haul anyway!
What are they doing with their A300s? If they are chucking them, I wonder if I might have one! They are so beautiful and take me back to the Orion and DanAir examples flying in the 80s!
Where was the Futura 737 bound? Palma or TFS?
That AeBal 717 is beautiful!
For your ordniary working man, flying clubs are way too expensive. I have visited a few and they seem full of silver-spoons for whom money isnt a worry as daddy foots the bill. I cant believe any are on the verge of bankruptcy they all seem to be onto a nice little earner!
Please dont get me started on flying clubs. My partner has spent 10s of thousands of pounds gaining him PPL, IMC etc. and all the hours and hours hes spent flying since.
Its his hobby, he isnt short of a bob or too and its up to him I suppose but when I think of all that money and what we could have done together, thee places we could have visited, I get more than a little annoyed. Especially since if I treat myself to a book or DVD he moans I am wasting money!
Oh it was a very capable aircraft and very advanced for its time with the Cat 3 autoland capability. It did lack the required range and field performance though but it was a fast baby.
I loved the 3B and the booster engine. Unique!
Listen Mr Dictatorial, the Trident passed into BAs hands and was operated by them for far longer than BEA!
Your sarcasm knows no bounds does it Kev? I know these aircraft were not the most efficient in some cases but the airlines invested in them only then to let them get tatty and throw them out before they had served their useful purpose.
British Airways hated the |Trident from day one, it was obv they gave it no fuss, attention or publicity. They never wanted it and never treated her with the respect that 3 holed beauty deserved!
I wasnt a fan of Donald Dewar or his politics Im afraid. They didnt waste much time erecting a statue, Im sure he is looking down with pride as he striked me as a very self-important man. Surely he didnt get a state funeral did he? He was only a politician not Robbie Burns, does that mean when Malcolm Riffkind or Alex Salmon passes on they will be afforded the same and given a statue in their honour?
