MyTravels cruise ships were about as comfortable as your average Car ferry, with awful Jane Mcdonald type entertainment and full of screaming kids bored stiff.

Airtours Int started offering quality charter flights with all the trimmings. The MD83s served them well. They went wrong when they paid over the odds for Inter European/Aspro and setting up a Scandinavian MyTravel. They were trying to increase markey share, they wanted to overtake Thomson at any price!

Yeah right, MYT are on their uppers and I feel that this ‘positive front’ could be a move to try and increase confidence and summer bookings.

My Travel arent the worst charter airline, Thomson/BY seem to be chasing that particular title. I hope they survive and return to profitability but I have doubts.

The rebranding was an awful mistake. The name Airtours was well-known throughout the industry and MyTravel was such a stupid name anyway.

Edited by MOD for racial stereotyping.

Well that makes a nice change. I am sick of all the new A320s in the UK charter sector. Nice to have the A300B4s adding a bit of variety and ‘character’ reminds me of the motley assortment of aircraft Dan Air used for its charters, those 727-100s and 727-200s and 732s.

The all new singing and dancing Airbus and new gen 737s are very boring and sterile. Its nice to have this modernity contrasting with the old Air Scandic A300s, MYTs aincient 757s and Ryanairs screaming 732s

You seem to have nothing to do but take great photos all day long. Nice life if you can get it!

The Ryanair/Hertz 732 looks absoloutley f*****. I would be very nervous bording this.

I loved seeing the Air Scandic A300s, very beautiful and cheesy! Dont see many lovely old A300s these days. I hope Air Scandic continue to operate these for some time.

I know the stastics off by heart but I am still terrified. I never worry about problems with the aircraft, it is always a mid-air collision or a bomb that worries me. I have dreams where the aircraft I am in just opens up in the sky and the plane and all its contents just fall to earth.

At check-in I eye uneasily the luggage thinking, unrationally, that one contains a bomb.

Waiting in the queue to take off at busy airports, I think of all the increased aircraft in the sky and how a momentary ATC lapse could set two aircraft on a collision course!

The low costs should stick to the tried and tested Alicante catering for the Benidorm bootleggers and the timeshare crowd. Valencia is a different market.

Durham-Tees Valley as it is now called, I understand. Oh well since DanAirs demise few airlines have shown an interest in operating schedules from MME so I suppose they ought to be pleased that the arrogant Ryanair are coming in.

Well, take on Abidjan then and Banjul/Freetown. Also get back on Lilolngwe route and stop sending 763s to Lusaka when the market will take a 744.

BA sees Africa as South Africa and Kenya.

BA hates flying to Africa it seems, even when routes are full and very profitable, like to Nigeria. Its constant downgrading of African flights is becoming embarassing. Lusaka being the perfect example. If they put any smaller aircraft on that route they will be sending an Avro next!

Presumably Amman although Aqaba is a poular tourist destination and does recieve international flights. The main tourist attraction in Jordan is the rose city of Petra which is close to Aquaba and I suspect that is where your aunty is flying to.

Yes the runway at LBA is high, so that does cause problems particularly on a rare warm day. Also LBA is often adversely affected by bad weather, fog and such like.

The terminal needs expansion, the check in area is a nightmare, especially whern a couple of charters depart at the same time, such as Saturday mornings. A complete nightmare!

Tour operators have always tried as hard as they can to persuade people not to fly from LBA. They have whacked on some pretty outrageous flight supps in the past, making holidaying from the Yorks airport an expensive business for local people.

If the journalists claims can be substantiated then the security staff who knowingly used faulty metal detectors and suchlike should be named and shamed. The jobsworths.
