Notice Jet2 have painted the Yorkshire rose on their planes. Good on em!
It seems to me we have a lot of rather spoilt young men who like to dominate on this forum. They act like self-appointed moderators, rubbishing other peoples posts instead of putting up a constructive argument.
My days are numbered yet again, and why? cause I write honestly, courageously and with feelings?Or is is becasue a certain member seems to find it amusing and doesnt want another Yorkshiremen raining on his parade! He also made quite a disparaging remark about my personal life, but you can bet he wont get kicked off for being an offensive so and so!
Why was a topic remembering smoking sections on airlines considered taboo?
Also I like remembering the times when Ive flown in the past. I post a good mix of posts, airlines now and then, airports, aircraft types etc.
Stop lecturing LBAboy. The charter airline meals used to help take ones mind off the cramped seating, now there is nothing to set them apart from
Ryaniar and Easyjet.
They are losing customers hand over fist to the no-frills carriers who are flying to all the same destinations as the charters ALC, AGP, PMI etc.
My point is if the charter airlines bought back the meals they would have the edge over the competition and perhaps people would be more inclined to book once again with these fading carriers!
I take it your not on about Crossair/Swiss who now charge for food on board there scheduled flights! A princely price as well, I might add. I nearly died of shock when flying Swiss recently and finding a price list in the seat pocket. Swissair wouldnt have treated you like that.
We did get a little swiss choc though, but that didnt make up for having to pay about a £10 for a little bottle of plonk and a salad, Scandolous!
The whole region was shocked when the announcement of the name came out. Our local news programme even went and asked the director why Robin Hood? He said “well apparently he visited Wakefield a couple of time” My ribs were killing me.
Drop the flag BMIBaby, you are not the national carrier for wales. Only an airline like AirWales or previous Airways Cymru should display the Welsh flag/dragon.
The good things you heard probably date as far back as 96. From there on it has been staedily downhill.
Cant help thinking they were trying to emulate the no-frills carriers and the awful MYT and trying to increase market share, what happened was that although people travel to visit relatives or for a stag do or for a weekend away were more than pleased with the no-frills and cheap fares but when they took their annual holiday to the sun, they expected not to have to pay for an in-flight meal and a bus transfer when they had always had these and at no extra cost in the past.
The charter carriers should have stayed true to themselves and continued to make improvements to service levels, they should have kept their frozen breakfasts, which were cheap to produce and kept the cost of a transfer in the price of the package.
The tour ops often moan that no=frills airlines have nicked all therecustomers but they tried to emulate them by turning their packages into like ‘do it yourslef’ holidays anyway, so people just decided “well, Thomson charge for coach in resort and youve to pay for meals, so we might as well go with easyjey and do it ourselves anyway”
Indeed a sad day when Bae decided to sop manufaturing the RJ. When I think of all the beauties we British have had, the Comet, Trident, VC10 and Bac1-11. We knew how to build some graceful, beautiful and thankfully, really noisy aircraft.
They are cute little planes, I cant wait for my trip! They are such good little performers, I bet them jets could get airbourne from my back garden!
There was a time when people made a definite choice to book a Thomson holiday, they knew they were booking with a well-established package tour operator who would perhaps be a better alternative then Airtours, Aspro or going back further Intasun.
Nowadays Thomson has forgoten what a package holiday is. It is:
Accommodation for chosen duration and on chosen board basis.
Flight to and from point of departure to destination and return, including in flight meal according to the time of day.
Transfers from resort airport and return, accompanied by a holiday representative.
The services of a holiday representative throughout your stay.
The only thing people had to pay seperate for was holiday insurance. Now Thomson cost of package holidays DONT INCLUDE, inflight meals, transfers (they have to be paid for) or resort reps on coaches! That isnt a package holiday Thomson, so bog off!
I resent people who get free upgrades, but there again most of the pax in business and first are getting it free seen as their companies pick up the tag.
Yes, one could be forgiven for thinking they are a charter carrier when seated in their economy cabin!
Yes, I agree with your criteria. I couldnt care less about PTVs, why is this used as a yardstick to measure service levels? Its nowt but rubbish shown anyway, I would rather have a paper or book.
Unofortunatley with the rise of the no frills concept, I consider myself very lucky to be sat in the relative discomfort of a proper airlines economy cabin.
Your right about the cost of economy plus seats. Id rather save and go business class than fork out the extra for economyplus.
Well reasoned reply. I agree, wholeheartedly! I remember the airlines who went out of their way and provided those extra touches. Should any airline provide me with a free choc and I would be loyal for life!
haha. Seriously though I thought Luton was a cheap alternative for London. Perhaps the airport want to discourage light aircraft and concentrate on keeping Easyjet sweet.
I prefered Luton when it was the home of the charter flight with Court Line and then BY and MON. Full of Lorraine Chase clones coming in from Malaga with Spanish donkeys and castanets!!
Yeh? I might be opinionated but I aint ugly !
