My partner has a private pilots licence and goes around and about the UK at weekends flying his little farty plane. He wont fly to Luton because of the high landing fees and handling charges. How come then its a base for cheapo airlines?
Well, pardon me for having exacting standards! Emirates carries on although it were one of the true serivce airlines like Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific who look after economy passengers as well.
Gulf Air is , however, a quality carrier with very good service. Hope GulfAirTraveller will carry through the service but offer fares at cheaper prices!
I used to holiday with Thomson a la carte brand, now I prefer Soverign. Thomson and Britannia aint what they used to be!
Emirates is a very mediocre airline. There A330s are highly configured by other scheduled airlines standards.
Britannia is but a shadow of its former self. Its such a shame that a quality airline and quality tour operation such as Thomson has made that many cutbacks to service levels that they are now a third rate operation.
The TUI fiasco was a mistake. Thomson should have remain independant and continued to provide quality package holidays at affordable prices.
I didnt know that transfers were unaccompanied but I cant say it has suprised me.
Glad someone agrees with me. The airline business is about the only industry where service levels have got worse as time has progressed.
I miss Caledonian, Orion, British Airtours, Air Europe, Novair, InterEuropean and of course DanAir.
And bloody terrifying for the holidaymakers onboard, I can bet.
Are you old enough to remember Amy Turtle from Crossroads? She had a good brummie accent! haha
You seem to be a self-appointed moderator! Im sure others who are a trifle older than yourself will remember the heydays of charter airlines with fondness and passion, as I do.
Why shouldnt I post it. It is relevant and others may enjoy reading it. If you dont fare enough! but dont criticise every post I make on the basis that you dont want to read it!
I was just making an observation that cabin crew never seem to have any traces of a regional accent. Why shouldnt a Jet2 stewardess have a nice broad Yorkshire accent, provided that she could be understood.
Cabin crew seem to be more of a company’ creation’ rather than real individuals and I think thats a shame. Lots of witty people work in the industry but their own personality often doesnt shine through the ‘voice’ which airlines seem to insist upon cabin crew using!
They seem to do it all the time. Why are there so few cabin crew with regional accents? It would be nice to hear a Yorkshire accent or a Brummie accent or a Geordie accent but no they all speak in the same monotone voice.
Just as people have ‘telephone voices’ I think cabin crew have ‘stewardess voice’ and after work they revert to talking in there proper voice!
Why do British cabin crew have that unique way of speaking, you know, starting every sentence with actually and finishing it with OK?
They do this especially when chatting to passengers on flights and when talking amongst each other.
Dont like Emirates. They have got too cocky by far since their humble beginings and meteroic rise. They have got way too big for their boots with all the A330s and 777s. Prefered them when they operated to UK with the A310s!
Gulf Air was there first and deserves to be the ones reaping the success of onward traffic through Bahrain and Abu Dhabi
Long way to go to connect. Whats wrong with LHR or AMS. I dont like Emirates but I do like the original and still the best Gulf Air. I used to like their Tristars!
For heavens sake they are no-frills cabin crew. They can probably converse in English and double-dutch. BMIBaby are hardly going to be recruiting multilingual staff to operate on leisure routes to Spain and flights to Dublin and Edingburgh where most of the passengers on both outward and return are British anyway!
