Also, I admired greatlly Sir Adam Thompson of British Caledonian and more recently Barbara Cassani, for bringing a degree of respectability and service to the low-cost sector.
I admire Air Wales, serving local communities. Wish they hadnt pulled out of Swansea though!
Yes, more than likely 757, pack a cooked lunch!
I pleased for you, and a transatlantic 757 flight? or is it 762? Anyway, have a nice time x
Yes Bcal were strong in West Africa and S America and operated to far more detinations that BA do at present. Lima was definitely served and as you say were both Freetown and Banjul for many years.
BA seems disinterested in serving S America what with their tagging of Rio and Sao Paole and Buenos Aires and Santiago. These routes could be operated in their own right.
I think its a disgrace that BA doesnt have a presence in Guyana as well, AF and KLM both serve their South American ex-colonies and both have a smaller home population than the UK
Charter flights have always suffered horrendous delays, its nothing new. Dan Air was one of the worst but their was a real holiday feel on board their aircraft and this went a long way to ease the frustration of weary passengers, and you got a voucher for a meal if over a few hours. Seen as many of the charters dont even feed you on-board, I can hardly see them giving you any food in the airport.
Shame on MYT for hanging up their phones, because of complaints from passengers!
Africa and South America are poorly served by BA, in my opinion. They should be present on routes which have historical and cultural ties with Britain.
I know these opening services to these destinations may be hard work but I think they may also be high-yield, if properly developed.
Banjul is a definite possibility. Tourism is big and not everyone, including myself, wants charter configuration on what is close to a 6 hour flight.
My gran and grandad used to travel with BA to Lilongwe, where they have relatives working, but BA has now pulled out of Malawi as well.
No, I think it preferable if the national carrier is present on these routes. Charter airlines wouldnt have the product or experience to launch scheduled flights to the likes of Georgetown or Freetown. These destinations havent always been the most politically stable but I think it important that they are connected to the mother country.
KLM operates to Paramaribo, AF to Cayenne etc. BA should have a presence on ex-colonial routes!
Your right ii isnt. Even some of the national carriers are cutting back service levels and I think thats a real shame.
Ever since I was a child I have loved the whole experience of flying. I find it annoying that airlines seem to no longer care about their passengers, particularly on short-haul routes where service levels keep getting trimmed back and back.
Not for much longer ha ha.
Even on short domstic flights, Dan Air gave you complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits!
Was Britannia ashamed of their heritage? They had a lovely classy livery and a name which was synonimous with quality. Then they joined TUI and its been downhill ever since!
They have all been removed, it seems. I wouldnt mind bit neither contained any bad language or anything!
Well it seems my rather forthright opinions havent gone down to well at all in some quaters. I feel like a naughty school boy and I certainly have had my wings clipped!
I think its a bit of a shame that I cant let my personality shine through my posts and inject sometimes a bit of humour. Oh well, the boss has spoken so expect much more tame views in the future, if any.
I offer the olive branch. I think I got a bit angry with you and I shouldnt. I am just upset that the airline that I patronised and who had introduced MAN_GIB a route I fly quite often have chosen to go down the no-frills route, trying to emulate Ryanair and the like, when they had an excellent product AND competitive prices.
Im sorry x
