a one hundred year old connon shell is still going kill u if it hits u (that is provided it was fired out of a connon first :D). the biggest threat posed by NK is its close proximity to SK and US troop based there.

NK’s artiliry might not be state-of-the-art, but serveral thousand old gun firing at the same time into ur capital is still not sth anyone would be looking forward to too much.

another aspect would be the terrain. alot of mountains and caves (natural or man made) will give US air power alot of restrictions and would force the US to go in on the ground against a army that isnt already destroyed for once.

however, notice how all of the above one comes into play in DEFENCE. the best mountain strongehold is not going to be any help if ur charging out of it. at this point, and in the foreseeable future, the US is far greater threat to NK then NK will ever be to the US. thats the idea behind the BMs and nukes, they are weapons intended to be used in a defensive manner as a means of deterrance.

however, given the mental state that kim is in, he’ll probably use his nuke for more then just deterance once he gets them, ie,’ give me XXX of i nuke u’, thats why no one and i mean NO ONE wants to see then have nukes.

if they wanted to, i’m sure they can search through their history books and find out how to make and use less destructive weapons, or just get one out of a musuem and give us a hiding we will not soon forget.

i think it would be a better bet to say the ET is so advanced that he has outgrown violence. in which case they will probably not want to know us. might lead them back to the ‘dark side’ or, u never know, we might even invade and conquere the poor advanced, none-violent sods. 😀 😛

the reason that i doubt all this crap abt USA shooting down ET is based on the following line of thought: if ET can get shot down, then ET aint that smart; if ET aint that smart, ET cant be from too far away; if ET is nearby, how come nobody knows abt him yet? just look at all the rubish we broadcast into space. if ET was within a hundred light years of us, then we would likely be bord out of our skills watch alien soaps by now. 😀

totally agree on the none-oxygen critters, but whos to say there arent any other planets suitable for carbon based, oxygen consuming, burger munching humans? have they check every planet? :p

as for yankees shooting at ET, well, might notbe such a good idea considering they can do sth we cant yet, and wont likely be able to for a very long time. i guess our only hope is that they didnt have quite a violent history as us, so arent that good at comming up with better ways at bashing each other over the head, and so are wooses. otherwise we might be facing things alot worse the intergalatic isolation. 😀 😉
