What a great shame for both pilot and aeroplane.Very sad news indeed
Perhaps there is an advance and retard on the mags of the Mongoose which enables the points to open and create the spark as per Rolls Royce cars with a mag, which I have heard could be started by moving the advace/retard lever.Just a thought, could be wrong though.
They will be displaying at Duxford next weekend (8th/9th)
Fantastic,thanks for your quick reply.
Thanks for the info, very sorry to hear that,I’ve read pretty well all of his books and ejoyed them all.Amazed that he’s 76 now but I guess we are all getting older.Anyway hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
Not yet – it was a pre-recession idea currently on the ‘back-burner’ I understand.
Ok thanks for that Mark V.Look forward to end of the recession eh?:)
As an aside, while on the subject of this particular Spitfire has anyone written a book solely about MH434 yet?
I’m sorry, I don’t know of a suitable definitive publication for the Hurricane. But I enjoyed correcting the spelling despite being a spelling imbecile myself, many times.
Can we all try harder, on the spelling bit? 🙂 Myself included!
The Guy was asking about a book not about spelling, but then the person that doesn’t make a mistake doesn’t do anything,so I’m told.:D
Sounds interesting Tony,be good to have a bit more gen. Thanks
Thanks for that, glad it went ok for them, they deserve some good luck.
Looks a nice little museum.I didn’t know about this one, thanks for the pics.
Anyone know, how BBJI is coming along since her accident a few years back when she jumped the chocks.Hope she’s up and flying by now.A lovely well built little plane,I was very impressed with the build quality when I did the permit renewal on her before she was sold to a new owner who had the mishap with her.
Yes realise that Ant, wanted the latest update of how things were going. If you noticed mine was the last post on that thread.:)
Is it off to France then?
Good one:D:D
we do have old Warden remember 😉
Yes I realise that,I’m a regular attendee there and have been for more than 35 years, and most of their aircraft are originals. If this rich guy wants to start a museum of replicas there are lots of types that Old Warden does not have that could be reproduced, thats the sort of thing that I meant.:)
A museum of flying replicas would be great, but they ought to be exact replicas not look-a-likes,as that would defeat the object as far as I’m concerned.WW1 stuff would be fantastic, with stuff like T.V.A.L. make.
