I would certianly like a ID for the Fury, thanks. Typically I can’t find a log for my last visit but before that I visited in 89 and 90. On the last occasion the following interesting wrecks were noted
    67,134 Nord 1002
    19,120 nord 1001
    8,87 nord 3400
T6’s 45-1040,114740,115017,34572,34579,114707,34592,34594,114700 these were all junked around the woods in a mostly poor state with no engines, some wingless, just bare shells

plus the following ex Egyptian Yak 11’s and 18’s511,529,536,540,542,565,570,579,580,588,589,,667,707,708,709 there were more but they were in a poor state. on the active side were F-AZFJ,AZFK
Also present in 1990was ex Vietnamese A-37 62-10790, what happened to that. Also whats the status of HB-EEB Miles Magister? And a ex Venezualean P47 noted in 89

LFA is an excellent place although sadly I have never been to the show. I haven’t been for about 8 years but had great fun scrambling over the Harvards and Nords in the woods behind the main hangars. Are they still there? It was like one big French scrap yard, plus there was a hangar full of ex Egyptian Yak 11’s and 18’s 😀 . Did the Fury ISS that I saw there last time ever get rebuilt?

Although I don’t think that ‘warbird’ owners and museums are elitest there is a big acess airfield problem in the UK. Im a spotter and have been for 20 odd years, I can not afford to be any more than groundbound. There are very few airfields nowadays that are friendly and open, weather they have historic aircraft of not. Good examples are Breighton and Popham. Bad examples North weald and White Waltham. I know the CAA have brought out the high viz jackett thing etc, but some places go out of their way to be unfriendly. Yes I know some spotters are a pain but we are always hearing about airfields( like N Weald at the moment) being threatened .But how would you feel as a local resident if you were not welcome let alone as an enthuiast.
Yet I find the US the situation is the opposite. I remember a few years ago when I first visited California, Torrance actually. I knew there was a field there but guessed it was just spam cans when I spied two T28’s so pulled up the car by the fence. Only to have some body pull up beside me and ask what I was doing? In the UK I would expect to be told to **off, but I was invited into his hanger to see his P51 too! There just doesn’t seem to be this openess in the UK?

try classic wings at Duxford for Tigers and Rapides
    http://www.goliathres.com/res_website.asp?supplierCode=cla100&page=home

also try this list of flights in deHavilland aircraft
    http://www.dhmothclub.co.uk/tf/tfbritain.htm

I have never seen flights in high performance warbirds advertised. There used to be a company at Shoreham that did Harvard flights but that was years ago. I think you get get rides in Jet Provest and/or Hunters at Kemble and North Weald? Remember you would need a aircraft that has a public transport c of A just like a airliner to do pleasure flights.

A few bits I would like to see as a spotter
    Nimrod R1
Some of the French CEV fleet, plus a Paris(are they still in service?), French KC135 and E3. Funny how the French Navy and Army well support the event but not the airforce?
    Greek F16
also a meet of VIP aircraft would be nice(French Da900,Belgum Emb135, Irish LJ45 etc)
also a mass para drop from 10 C130’s and a Tornado scramble.
On the historic side the Red Bull fleet(Corsair,B25 ,DC6 etc) plus both connies in formation.

Getting back on track I have heard the 109 has had taxi trials as N342FH but will not fly in the uk. Not sure if this is 100% correct but we will have to wait and see. Shame it can’t spend the summer on the uk circuit first?

I went up there a few weeks ago, excellent museum. But can’t post the pics until the site is fixed. 🙁 Have never seen so many noses in my life, if you count theem there are over 60 ‘aircraft’ exhibited . Very friendly bunch too, even let me round the store.
It is in the middle of a housing estate! I had previously visited while it was still a airfield in 1989 and it was a grim place. Has changed so much lots of new houses and business units anll nicely landscaped . Its not so grim up north anymore! 😉

you just need some ‘positive waves’, the sort that will fix this board for ever  . Its a great film, unrealistic but great. So many excellent quotes. Its just behind the BoB in my favourite war movies. Indeed its a Soko 522 in the film.

A classic movie, but makes me fell old knowing it was 20 years ago.Supprised nobody has mentioned the ‘mig’s’ yet? Those nice black pained F-5’s that I guess were supposed to be North Korean without saying it.

I feel the need, the need for…speed!!! A Line that goes through
my mind every time I take off even if its in a Airbus or some other tube.

    Hi All

I’ve purchased an old logbook which lists two serials, but does not state the aircraft type. Can you help?

    K1910, J7743, on 10 Sqn 1931

    Thanks

    Ian

K1910 Handley-Page Hinaidi, the who batch of 17 used by 10sqn
J7743 handley-Page Hyderabad, J7745 became the Hinaidi prototype, so very similar types.
