    Fluffy and Mrs Fluffy.
I’ve only one thing to say.

    Joe, thanks!!!!!!!!
My Dad’s school chum Sgt Derek Bell was killed on a raid to Hamburg whilst flying as a rear gunner with 76 Sqn in July 1943.
Using your site my research on the squadron and the raids of that period has spread outwards.
I consider it to be a unique resource.
    Happy New Year

not yet, I’m just trying to see if I can find enough info to do a large scale model of the aircraft….do you think they’d be able to provide access to some drawings?

PM me in the new year and I’ll ask.

I promise to be more tolerant to my fellow aviation enthusiast, to respect their views however mundane or inaccurate they are, I will not take the p!ss even though in my view that person maybe an imbecile, and I will make the up most effort to keep these views to myself and not vent on this forum, even though it may irritate the crap out of my not to do so. I also promise to cut the sarcasm in my posts and threads.

All of the above will be void, if, come January some mindless moron asks what we are looking forward to in the up and coming season, and whether we have a wish list for Legends, this also applies to the “Which is better than which threads” which prevail on Modern Military and at time filter on to Historic.

Other than this, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and safe 2007, and ask do you think 2007 will be better than 2006, and what Legends do you wish for?

Well Ian, what are you looking forward to seeing at Legends in 2007?

    Melv,
    Thanks for posting this.
I for one am glad you flagged this up.
People here may chose to pooh-pooh H&S, it’s up to them.
However, THE HSE now have as much power as the Police and the last thing anyone wants is them crawling all over your place of work or your favourite aviation venue.
I shall be doing a bit of digging in the coming weeks.
    Thanks again.

My interest was temporarily aroused by a thread I thought might be about the Nieuport Nighthawk.

The wings just moved into the hangar and the lorry has moved forward, however the cranes lights are still flashing.

After some of the things I’ve said about Duxford in the past, I check under the car with a mirror on a stick!!!

seriously though this should go on general forums no?

Has aviation become so serious that we can’t have a chuckle about it anymore?

Thanks for clearing that one up Ashley – I hadn’t realised that the thread is a variation on the ‘ISO Container At Duxford’ theme!

You mustn’t leave a container laying about at Duxford–otherwise it’ll win an Architectural award.

Tis true…I have seen it with my own eyes.

And guess what….a new build silver BMW with German “data plates” drove past me when I was leaving the hanger….

    Darren,
I do wish you wouldn’t go over there and mix with those rough boys.
Last time they stole your shoe laces.

Stay on God’s own chosen acres in Bedfordshire.

Was it? Well I never knew. Nor was I aware of the ‘Dung Hunter’ nickname.
    Cheers

Just did a bit of reading and ‘The chummy hearse’ was another DH6 nickname that cropped up and it cheered me up on a December afternoon.

Details of operational use to be furnished later.

    DH-6.

Named by the aircraft’s crew, and I suppose as it was a training machine, they were its enemies as well!

    Used operationally too, of course.
