I don’t think she’s done anything in particular to harm ‘your beloved’ Duxford.
She wrote some rather ill informed pieces in her column in the newspaper that’s she is occasionally employed by but I think that’s about all.
It helped to sell the newspaper but that’s about all.

Strange as it may seem to you, being anti-aviation does not breach English law as it currently stands.
(It may be considered somewhat foolish though.)

There Ms Greer is as much entitled to her opinion as are you.
Also ,as she’s a resident of Cambridgeshire she’s actually entitled to more of an opinion than yourself who isn’t a resident of that fine county.

I’d also like to point out in closing that if writing ill informed tosh was a crime, then several members of this forum would be in court after the last few weeks here.

I feel sorry for the bloke.
He’s obviously rushed into something without any thought.
Knowing how hard it is to acquire wealth it grieves me to see money wasted.

Actually wrong James.
I read it a long time ago. About twenty years I would think.
I actually thought it was almost complete ‘clart’.
However at this distance in time I can’t quite remember why I thought that but I remember thinking ‘this is complete b*ll*cks’ while I was reading it.

I’m quite happy to read it again with a more open mind and I’ll put pen to paper on what I find.

Have you read ‘Winged Victory’ by VM Yeates yet?? If not why not?

don’t apologise, you’ve started an interesting thread.
May I suggest the following:-
‘The Bomber Command War Diaries’ by Martin Middlebrook and Chris Everitt and ‘The Right of the Line’ by John Terraine.
These two books will give you a much more balanced account of what was going on in this period than Deighton ever will.

My own opinion for what it’s worth is that the RAF had no way of effectively stopping the German panzer columns or of strategically bombing Germany.
However, Terraine will explain it all much better than me.
