No Mr T, I fear he is real and genuine.
Look at his history and read his posts elsewhere.
While I’m very sorry for the small children killed and the others too, my view is this.
If you’re daft enough to permit laws where you can buy an assault rifle in a corner shop, tolerate an education system where someone like the contributor above can call himself educated and still reckon that you’re a superpower–then you deserve everything you get.
I like America, I know some of them and have been there much in the past, but come on.
The second amendment was framed back in 1700 & something.
Do you really think this women (the boy’s Mother) really needed to own an assault rifle because she might called when they raise a state militia..?
In the same way, I keep a man trap and some manacles, in case one of my slaves tries to escape and I always keep some handy kindling in the house in case the five year old boy I employ to sweep the chimneys gets stuck up there and I need to shift him.
It’s archaic crap.
Andy.
Good man
See you there.
A.
Al–Thanks.
That was quite wonderful.
Andy
We had a little chat at the Autumn show, but of course you didn’t know me from Adam. Adrian
Was it in front of Hangar 3..?
Make yourself known next time.
A.
Adrian, yes, that’s me.
I must say I do look a bit severe in that picture.
Andy
I’m not sure if this ventures into malice or banter, but in any case, play nice.
There’s no need to panic–or put in the moderating boot
(Sometimes Less is after all, more).
I’ve known (and tolerated) the above two reprobates for a number of years now.
This is a good friendly little thread promoting what will be hopefully be a good event.
Might I suggest a coathanger inserted into the gob (pointing the right way, of course) may allow your face to assume the “smile” position.
I can smile. it’s just that I tend towards smiling at what others find odd–or in perhaps bad taste.
Scary thought! Have you been practicing in front of the mirror? 🙂
I’ll do anything for the cause….
I have a fresh can of Hexane so if the weather is OK, I intend to run a couple of the Edwardian bikes and the 1897 Benz.
It’s a try at a new event at OW.
The engineers are driving it and hopefully it’ll bring in the punters.
A.
On an associated point, the recent SVAS news item refers to progress with the Sopwith Camel reproduction and the winding down of the Northern Aeroplane Workshop, responsible for the M.1c and Triplane reproductions in the Collection, as well as the Camel.
I think it only right that we collectively pay tribute to, and thank them for, what they have achieved, don’t you?
Jeepman.
I’m not sure that Robert or Trevor (or any of the Yorks contingent) frequent this site but I’ll pass on your tribute when I next see them.
It’ll be a while but I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed when the Wildcat is eventually completed to Shuttleworth standards.
As an aside, those of us who are working quite hard to raise the profile of the vehicle collection at Old Warden will be there on the 30th to answer questions and smile sweetly.
Andy.
This blog is likely to be the prime source of information on a daily basis through January 2013.
Mark
Welcome back Peter.
Hope all is OK for you and the Saunders boy.
A.
Why is humanity so obsessed with extinction events?
Probably because life is so sh*t here.
It’s something mildly diverting to look forward to.

Andy, I will ignore the unnecessary ‘Get over yourself’ bit as the rest was well argued.
Yes, sorry, I was a bit ‘to the point’.
However, being a regular advertiser in specialist magazines myself, I know how greedy they are for advertising revenue.
The readership barely enters into it.
Andy
That pain in the proverbial are the people who pay their wages.
Get over yourself, it’s the advertising revenue which pays their wages.
It has been and always will remain so.
I wasn’t going to comment on this thread because I don’t really have a dog in the fight but Key don’t give a monkey’s about anyone here.
If you asked Key about where they see Flypast as a magazine I suspect they see it firmly in the ‘lifestyle’ section. Therefore to have heated debate isn’t really in it’s remit I suspect.
You only have to see the fawning (dare I say) nonsense they’ve printed over the years in regard to rich aircraft owners and how they are almost beatified to work that out.
Think ‘Country Life’ for aeroplanes with a bit of ‘lite’ history thrown in.
So, when Andy Saunders comes on here putting the cosh in, as he has done before, and they get a complaint from those they wish us to worship–the inevitable happens.
Having said that, I tend towards thinking that some of these people do need calling out to get a bit of honesty and to air their misdemeanors.
Don’t expect to get anything like an apology though, and a forum without the likes of Andy and Peter is a poorer place.
So, I’d like to see them back.
Having said that.
Sometimes things are said on here that are needlessly insulting–and out and out wrong–incorrect and pure dim-witted surmise..
A month or two ago, we had people saying that the Shuttleworth Collection should be reported to trading standards and that they were guilty of something approaching fraud.
Perhaps they should have threatened legal action too..??
A Russian astrophysicist has theorised that the solar system is entering an area of space with a much higher energetic level and this will cause the sun to start producing huge sun-spots (promenences) which might cause our technology problems; maybe even rip away our planet’s radiation protection. This is the sort of predictable and repeatable disaster that could cause a regular planetary disruption, as predicted in the Long Count calendar. No sun spots so far though, in fact a dearth of them, surprisingly.
Do you think any of that will be sufficient to finally finish off X-factor, Strictly or Big Brother–or even television or the mass media in general..?
We can only live in hope I suppose.
Personally, I can’t wait, it’ll save buying presents and I hate December.
Sadly I suspect we’ll all be here in January.
Oh, and you can’t melt things down into gold–they were gold things already. The Dons just made the gold into bars, you can pack it into ship much more easily that way.
