I think the advertising for this event should be reported to trading standards.
What is the difference from some organisation advertising a concert with say Madonna and Take That and you end up getting Susan Boyle and Val Doonican instead!

As R Langham said, why don’t you report them?
Then you could have the personal satisfaction of knowing that you put the boot into a charitable trust, one of who’s primary stated aims is educating young people?
Perhaps if you really get a result, the collection might have to lay off an apprentice to cover the legal costs–I expect you’d enjoy that.

But seriously, has it ever occurred to you in your ‘infinite wisdom’ that the additional workload associated with the unpacking, assembling and testing of three aeroplanes from New Zealand, plus the disruption caused by engine problems on existing aircraft earlier in the year may have put work on things like the Comet back somewhat?—and that the intention to fly the Comet may have been genuine?
Indeed the Comet has been actively worked on as recently as last week—in the hope of that intention being achievable.

Of course instead of sitting on the side lines carping, you could offer your services as a volunteer. That way you could have maybe some influence on events. You might even have the pre-requisite skill set to help complete the work on the Comet.
However and sadly, at this point, I expect the usual raft of excuses—Mother-in-law has to be pushed round the municipal gardens in her bath chair, the journey to involves a 35 minutes train journey (yes, we have actually had that one) or the cat needs lard applying to it boils, etc etc etc.

I can’t say I liked it to any great extent.
It almost seemed that we hadn’t moved very far from ‘Reach For The Sky’ in 1493 or whenever it was made–certainly when the World was still in black & white.
However, my guess is that about 55% of the audience hadn’t even heard of Douglas Bader, let alone what he did. So, maybe it was intended as a primer for them.
Certainly the CGI left much (as ever) to be desired.

If you arm the Police that really only means that there are more guns out there.

Yes, this double murder was bad–very bad, but I can’t see how a load more bullets flying about will make the streets any safer.

Looking at the background to this case, it appears that killer was already out on bail. It seems to me that he shouldn’t have been.

As to these two young constables getting killed in the carrying out of their duties.
I give my respect to them and my condolences to their families.
There was real sorrow and anger at Police forces up and down the kingdom yesterday.

They shouldn’t be; nobody should be…..but are you saying that the Police are the only ones who bear any responsibility?

No I’m not.
However, the changing of Police reports must be their responsibilty.
To my mind that’s the bad part of this.
The events on the day may well have been chaotic, the individuals under immense pressure to try and act, and mistakes may well have been made and I don’t happen to think that any constable (or any other Police official) on duty that day would have wanted the deaths of all those people.

But the attempted act of pushing the blame onto people who were killed attending a game of association football is to say the least shabby, and at worst criminal–and I still think the establishment will protect it’s own, and the people responsible for that act will escape–probably to a retirement home in the Sun, without justice ever being served.

Why should they let it rest? 96 people died because of other’s incompetence. Why would those guilty of such negligence on such a large scale be allowed to get away with it?

The other night I disagreed with you but I agree 100% with you on this.
Sadly though I doubt those that deserve being pulled into court and then publicly castigated ever will be.
As we all begin to see (and realise) the Police in this country are above the law.
The concept of public service (if it ever existed) is dead and buried.

I recently won a five quid bet with someone over whether the ‘head banger’ who killed Ian Tomlinson would get off. That fiver paid for a large box of tea-bags for my workshop. The ‘Ian Tomlinson Memorial Teabags’ are almost used.
Anyone care to bet against me on this one?
