Can anyone give clear definition of how ‘design authority’ can be passed on from e.g BAE? They did do this with DH piston types and more recently Bulldogs etc, which are now handled by DH Support. Could it also be done with the ‘Shack’ and the Lancaster? Or is it only ‘simple single engined types’ ?

I recall the exhaust note was like a machine gun and had a ‘pillbox slit’ windscreen. A friend had a 1960 ish one. 🙂

Some years ago now but I flew in a 146 at about 5000′ from EDI to GLA. I thought it strange that they gave us the ditching drill until I saw all the lakes (and golf courses!) on the route. Spectacular ride!

A****plane has a supplement in this months edition of various cutaways over the years. They did a similar one last Winter. I don’t think they would be on the web because of copyright, but they do use ones originally done for ‘Flight’ as well as themselves.. If you contact them they may be able to supply what you want.

I was a bit more impressed with the lives saved. A forced landing on houses doesn’t bare thinking about. 🙁

In Pilot magazine recently the airport was inviting applications for free landing slots in the New Year. They wanted pilots to bring their aircraft so that the ATC controllers could sort out their systems and get some practice.
