Hi BC,
. I still find the physical size of my pics is very large (see ‘Grasshopper’) so any help would be appreciated.
I use Photoshop Elements, it has a resize facility which if posting I set at 8″ or 10″ width. This usually fits OK. I can also set the jpeg compression so that it gets below 100K

The An 124 used to be a quite regular visitor to Manston, Kent.UK
3-4 years ago. I once saw a 38 tonne artic truck back right inside.

The RAF Museums Spitfire 1 was recently restored to near original condition by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society. I’m sure they would be able to help. Their workshops are at
Rochester Airport,
Rochester,
Kent.
They are there Sundays, Wedesdays and some Mondays. If you are nearby on those days call in and look around, I sometimes do and there’s always somebody to guide you round.

If LGW is landing on 08R runway and you want to get close for photos etc, I go to the layby before BCP car parks entrance and walk up. Your can lean on a five bar gate and watch the landings coming down the approach. If you try to park along there, regular police patrols will move you on.

The viewing area is on the South Terminal roof accessed from inside the building far right corner as you enter from the power walkway. You can only see the stands inside the piers on the South Terminal and the satellite. There are arrival / departure monitors up there.

I have remarked this before, don’t forget there are 2 grounded and not updated Concordes at LHR. I assume that these will not be allowed to fly to a museum. One surly could be broken down into small enough sections for the short motorway journey to Brooklands. Otherwise they will face the scrapper.

According to the BBMF website the Lanc was due to appear at Duxford and Worthing on Saturday.

Hatton Cross is by the 27L threshold. On the opposite side of the A30 dual carriageway is a small grass field giving a slightly clearer view of approaches over the house tops. Don’t forget that landing and take off runways change over around 3pm.

There are reputed to be several airframes in containers at North Weald. (I believe the Spitfire the late Martin Sargent died in came out of one) Even the redoubtable Ken Ellis has had limited success finding out what could be there.
