Truely an interesting image but again some don’t get it that Xi’an is not only the home of XAC but even more important the CFTE !!!

seems like j20 about the same size as j15

China has very advanced airborne AESA radars.

I don’t think Chinese have avionics problems with J-31. Engines would be two WS-13 which are equivalent to F414 and generating 22,000 lb each.

there is many foreigners who think china cannot make aesa.

I gave a couple examples. Since you brought it up why don’t you back up your claims for once?

you gave no example and no proof. only picture of experimental aesa on typhoon.

This class was plagued by mechanical problems and a tendency to spontaneously combust, resulting in short careers. Novorossiysk lasted only a decade as an operational vessel, for example.

and indian navy still buy it lol. russians good sales men

The Y-20 is really such big? One told me that only A400M size alike.

a400m is smaller than il-76 but can carry more, so it is not just length but girth.

Sorry Frankvw, that was written the same time as your above post.

One would welcome facts or sources when people post their opinions, other than mainstream media, who are often reporting for the general populace, and thus get things wrong.

    Back on topic…

What exactly is the status of the J10B?
I’m not talking about posters who say they are being ordered, I’m talking evidence of production and/or deployment.

For example, is the J10A still in production, or are squadrons still being formed with that plane?

first production batch of j10b already underway go look at Huitong for detail

Is that the best you can counter with?…

    CAESAR radar during testing.
    http://www.targetlock.org.uk/typhoon/caesar_2.jpg

Just because your AESA is, or indeed if, the final product and in production before Captor-E it doesn’t mean it will be any better. And I’d most certainly even take the current Captor-M with the R2P/T2P enhancements over your J-10B’s AESA.

what is special about typhoon aesa over j10 aesa?

Chinese products get almost western-like level of support, but I’m concerned about their overall quality.

And the west has offered a few systems recently. The Air Force has taken several looks at the Rafale, but the overall costs of the thing keeps driving them away.

exactly. china support still not up to level as many other country but china open up its economy in the 80s while russia open it up in 90s 2000s. china had a longer history to work with foreign companies and understand how to do international business. still many issues but its getting resolved piece by pieces

Where is the tactical number? Doesn’t the presence of that signify squadron service?

that picture is one that was used for testing still but reflects prodction model version. first batch production version is now. s

I, personally, need to see better photos of a completed prototype. Preferably next to something of known proportions to give it some scale.

right now it is using russian engine so you can use that as a basis

News leaked out about this AESA radar mid 2011 by a Chinese source if I’m not mistaken, so it can’t be that old or much into the development stage, the same source claimed that this AESA has 1,100+ TR Modules, around the number of that similar to the Rafale’s RBE2-AA and whole lot less to what the Typhoon’s Captor-E will have. The AESA for Typhoon can be traced back to 2002, or to the late 90s if one wants to be pedantic. The CAESAR (not a Captor-E) first flew on a test BAC One-Eleven aircraft in early 2006 in sub-scale form and flew on Typhoon DA5 in mid 2007 in full scale form, with a number of TR Modules officially given as between 1,000 – 2,000, “unofficially” at around 1,400 – 1,500. The UK has it’s own AESA programme on the go named Bright Adder, the Captor-E ‘Radar 3’ will be built on this with the possibility of a new antenna array, for the RAF.

when you have picture of typhoon with aesa come back and post it.

first batch of j-10b finished production!
