wow, nice resurrect of my old thread

Here is Yugoslavian made first Jet airplane Ikarus-451M (1952). Only one was built. I love the single 20mm cannon position!!

One Mig-29 is back up in the air. Also some progress on Mig-29M2 deal.

Meanwhile, Serbia’s Batajnica-based 101 Sqn resumed operations with one of its four RAC MiG-29 fighters on 9 July. The type had been inactive since the latter part of 2012, because of serviceability issues. Earlier this year, Belgrade said it is close to finalising a deal to acquire six replacement MiG-29M/M2s.

we might even see Su-50 with one bay with 3 and one bay with two launchers.
That would give it ability to carry 5 R-77AA missiles, or 3AA R-77missiles plus 2 larger missiles. I think Russians are going to do what ever they want as far as those bays go. No need to set 2 vs. 3 per bay in stone now.

In my opinion, they chose to go with two missile launchers per bay although they could have fit 3 for R-77 missiles easily. The reason is more flexibility and wider range of types of missiles it can carry with two launchers.

after all, if I’m right, we might see some Su-50s with 3 and some with 2 launchers depending on assigned missions, and weapons they are intended to carry.

best regards.

Forgot to mention..

I am in Serbia now on vacation, and because of late departure, pilot of Polish LOT Boeing 767 said he would hurry up a bit. Here is how fast he went for a good 2 hours. I was getting nervous that it would reach the speed of sound. It went as fast as 1116km/h …WTF???

Some food for thought on speed requirements for air policing fighter plane who needs to catch up with commercial passenger jet that enters the airspace at these speeds.

An interesting read, and some answers on “whats up with 4 mig-29s?” and about current Serbian airworthy defenders from June 13th article i just read.

A system of sovereignty of Serbia in the third dimension, or airspace (VAP by the military) consists of two pilots and six technicians, two MiG-21bis (L-17 by the military) armed with 23-caliber gun dvocevnim mm and two or four IR-guided missiles air-air R-60 who are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a platform that continues to the southeast end of the runway number 2 batajničkog airport. In two letters – DJ, or duty units in everyday communication known as ” duty steam “or just” vapor “.
The main role of fighting airplanes to intercept, identify and bring down targets in the air and it is often hostile aircraft. The peaceful uses, the “enemy” is largely “unknown”, “stray” or “unannounced” and “knock” becomes “Contact” and “carry on the landing,” the western vocabulary air policing . From the country that aspires to be serious and it is such a treat, and other states are expected to have the capacity to practice sovereignty not only on its own territory, but also in the sky, or if not, to delegate to someone else, such as Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Albania, Montenegro …

I think it wouldn’t have made difference either. As said above, it would have been a stripped down version with K-13s and R-60s
It would have been a mistake for Vietnam to get those birds at that time.

the idea did cross my mind few times though. Its is one of my 10 favorite birds for sure.

Of coarse SA-3 would have made all the difference! It would have been a total game changer. But that’s a different topic for sure.

Later Soviet versions of Mig-23 I think would have made actual difference for sure, if they were implemented in time (so technically speaking).

cheers

RVV-BD and KAB-1500 :stupid:

Thanks for that drawing !!

Now is RVV-BD is a long range R-33 successor, right?

RVV-MD is a slimmer successor of R-73? Or is it upgrade and will be implemented with Su-35s, Su-34s and Mig-29Ms, while a slimmer redesigned short range missile will be hidden in Pak-Fa wing root bays?

and RVV-SD is R-77? Slimmer?

Since Pak-Fa can obviously mount four RVV-BDs, then it might fit 6/8 RVV-SDs ?

any newer pics than this link:http://www.defence.pk/forums/indian-defence/125594-new-missile-pakfa-rvv-bd.html

much appreciated !

yes, thats probably how it will go.

but what about the new AA missiles themselves? Aside from few versions of the new long range R-37 replacement, I have not come across of anything. Any drawings or even names of the new generation medium/short range missiles?

Or is it simply going to be R-77 + R-73 ?

Can 4 launch rails hold dual launch adapters for slimmer AA missiles?

And whats up with the new AA missiles. Is this bird going to carry R-77 to begin with, and later on obviously some new generation missile, or is the R-77 successor for Pak-Fa already being tested.

Same question for R-73 for the stealthy external mini bays.

any drawings?

thanks

Has Sukhoi released pictures of the weapon bays yet? Or any cutout showing How many missiles and Bombs can be carried internally…

interesting. All I have seen was a ton of speculation. I might have missed something.

care to post the “final” crystal clear layout.

also, any confirmed pics or drawings/dimensions of new AA missiles? This is what will ultimately determine the layout of internal bays.

my friend, do not give up hope.. serbia can re-conquer Srpska and Kosovo, but they need to think big and really push for military modernization.
would you ally with Albania?

You are pretty hilarious my friend ! 🙂

does Serbia want to join NATO? I know they want to eventually re-unite Kosovo, Croatia, Makedoni back into Serbia.. and their time window is becoming smaller and smaller as they will eventually join Nato.. the time for Serbia to attack is now.

as for a joint AF with these countries.. wont happen.. half are in NATO and the ones who aren’t (Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Bosnia) don’t like Serbia.
Perhaps if Serbia worked with a bit more distant power like Ukraine.

Y-20, I have no idea where you get your info, but its pretty damn off as far as Serbian fears and plans with other former republics uf Yugoslavia. I’d be curious to know what your sources for above is.

In any case, let me assure you that at this point, Serbia does not have any reason to fear Bulgaria what so ever. Only if some crazy thing happens where New Balkan War drags both countries into the conflict. This crazy scenario is possible, but first EU, and NATO would need to fall apart.

Also, Serbia neither can nor plans to “re-unite” with Croatia, Macedonia, or Bosnia. The closest thing to this scenarios would be uniting Republika Srpska in Bosnia with Serbia, which won’t change much, if anything as far as air forces arrangement goes, and reuniting with Kosovo (which sadly for Serbia is a wet dream at this point in time).

I think an airbase in Serbia is among the last things Russia would want right now.

Why would you say that? Its a perfect location in the middle of Europe, and a friendly nation.

If anything, its the other way around.
Serbia could make a big mistake if they were to have Russian base introduced now, considering desperate efforts to enter EU.

we all talk of the future I asked should Mig design a single engine fighter using parts and avionics already around well maybe Serbia should look to spend its money on going in with Mig and build the production line in Serbia it has a aircraft industry ?

I was thinking about this since early nineties when Mig “35” single engine design was being talked about. Of coarse, stupid war destroyed lots of plans and dreams.
It would be very beneficial to Serbia if such project was to materialize, and export well.
