Just before the Millenium we had quite a few callers at the door telling us the end was nigh. My stepson would ask them to sell him their house and car for a fiver, as they’d obviously have no further use for them. Strangely, their conviction was deep enough to try to scare people, but never deep enough to take up the offer…

Outlook is pretty grim – apparently I can expect to lose up to eight hours a night to this phenomenon….

There may be a rational explanation, but it doesn’t make much of a story 😉

Aliens abducted you for your vital essences, Stuart – too bad you missed your favourite TV show, though…

Nah, aliens cross galaxies to concentrate exclusively on abducting nutters. Uh-Oh…

I had a baffling and spooky experience a couple of days ago.

It was mid evening, an hour or so after dark and it was raining lightly outside. I was watching television and I remember the opening titles of Coronation Street appeared. I suddenly became aware of a strange stiffness in my neck and pins and needles down one arm. I found myself slouched to one side and felt oddly groggy. Coronation Street was no longer on the screen. My first reaction was reach for the remote control to check the time and I was startled and confused to notice that over 45 minutes had passed.

    Weird huh?

I watched the documentary too. I couldn’t help wondering why they had so much trouble with the radio control system. I thought drone technology had been used for decades without needing a chase plane nearby – especially during missile tests, so it seemed like they were re-inventing the wheel?

At a time when the country needed heroes, it may well be that Bader was ‘bigged up’. Lots of people found themselves in this position and whilst some relished it, others were embarrassed because they happened to be singled out for attention while their peers were ignored.

If memory serves, didn’t Bader lose his legs as a result of over exuberant aerobatics? Although it was an extaordinary feat, didn’t he overcome the consequences of poor airmanship?

I saw somewhere that he was shot down in error by friendly fire but claimed he was involved in a collision with a german aircraft. If that’s the case, then his insistance on the german collision story, protecting the identity of the british pilot actually responsible is an example of real loyalty and integrity.

I seem to remember some years back when a Foxbat pilot defected to Japan that the US were all over the aircraft before giving it back. There was much scoffing at the valve technology employed, until it dawned that it was to prevent EMP damage to the electronics?
