I fear that the snowballing clamour for public mourning and memorial is getting out of hand and shows neither respect nor sensitivity and lacks dignity.

Perhaps rather that accusing people of trying to get something for nothing
It should be, people trying to get something or nothing ?

Although as I said before, does it really matter ?
I’m not going to lose any sleep over a few people seeing a display for nothing.

The problem depends on the perspective. From the point of view of the airshow organisers it reflects lost revenue and so indirectly costs those of us who pay to attend more.

That’s only true if you assume that, if it were not possible to gain a decent vantage point outside of an airshow venue,
more people would pay to enter. Maybe they would, maybe not.
If I were to decide to view a display from outside of an airfield, it hasn’t cost the organizers anything, as I wouldn’t have
paid to go in anyway. What about those viewing the Old Warden display from outside of the airfield ?, it’s a sell out ,
so nobody has lost anything.

Good luck to any enterprising farmers or schools (such as at Duxford), who want to make some money.

As long as there are no safety issues (have to get in quick on that one 🙂 )
