This was rather a sore point in the Netherlands. Detailed in Leo Mark’s book, “Between Silk and Cyanide”
Looks like it’s in for a pressure wash 🙂
Is this the same museum that has a Constellation ?
Thread bump
I imagine it was NF920 which was shown in the John Nichol documentary (repeated a couple of days ago). Detailing the
missions flown by 617 Squadron after the dams raid ?
Nice pictures, I wish we’d had clearer skies on Friday.
The Sharkmouth P-51 which departed Duxford for Southend yesterday afternoon, left Southend for Roskilde in Denmark this morning.
I assume to an airshow ?
Regarding phone patches. They do it via one of their HF frequencies. I often used to listen to USAF aircraft on 11.175 USB
crossing the Atlantic. I imagine a lot is done via satellite links now ?
What did they use to record back then ?, was it a wire recorder ?
As they say, every little bit helps 🙂
Just a quick heads-up for those interested: Tonight there will be an update on PM with Eddie Mair on BBC Radio 4.
I only caught the tail end of this, so didn’t get the BBC’s slant on the story. I wonder what their reasons were for resurrecting this incident ?
Have there been developments in the search for the wreckage ? Apparently the story is to be continued next week.
Thanks for posting that Tony, as an item on the same page answers a question for me.
Many years ago when there were a couple of Harriers at Southend Airport for the airshow, some of the ground crew were raising
some money by selling compressor blades. I still have one of these which I bought for £1 🙂
Does this depend on how you try to upload them, and from where ?
Nice photos martin.
