I somehow managed to get this shot with the only bit of blue sky in the background.

    Duxford Friday 11th July:
Many thanks to the staff who allowed some leeway at closing time.

It’s the least they could do, considering most people had been there all day without seeing much flying.
I wonder if they would this on an airshow day ?, or maybe they have in the past ?

What time did they chuck everyone out ?

You missed quite a lot Alan!

The Connie duly arrived, as did the MkXVIII Spitfire,

    Don’t rub it in πŸ™

As we left, the Spitfire was doing it’s display. I should have left my radio on !!!!

Damn, we just missed it. We were there all day, and missed it by 15 minutes. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

It diverted into Farnborough due to the weather I believe.

    Strange choice ?

Well, it didn’t turn out too bad today. Pretty miserable but no rain thankfully.
Apart from the Catalina taking off about lunchtime, not much else happened until gone 3pm.
    Then everything started moving.
A shame that the Constellation didn’t make it in, and for some strange reason diverted to Farnborough.
I’m told he circled the Clacton area at 600ft for some time, whilst trying to decide what to do. I would have
thought Southend would have been a better choice, closer and cheaper ? No other arrivals during the day,
and we left at just before 6pm.

Will put a few pictures up later.

That’s a shame, especially for those who have spent a lot of money on tickets on the back of their appearance.

Yes that was the one, silly me. It hovered around Rayleigh Weir for a moment or two, I tried for a picture
but it went behind some trees.

Southend also had a visit from ZJ173 Apache β€œSlayer-01” and ZJ224 Apache β€œSlayer-02”

I may just go up on the Thursday, weather permitting.

Well the weather didn’t permit, so will try for Friday.

    (I hope it’s ok to mention this πŸ™‚ )

Alan, a Lynx visited Southend maybe it was this you saw?

Those standing in the field are probably not aviation enthusiasts.
As has been said, you don’t actually see very much, much better to stand to one side.
The only practical advantage that I can see, is those wanting continuity shots for video.
Take videos of aircraft on approach, then the next day take videos of them touching down, from inside the venue..
